Our Prowler store email received this message today:
Just a heads up in case you guys were unaware, Gary Cleverley passed on his birthday December 10th in California. As I know he was once very active with the prowler association I thought you guys would want to know. We are putting together a memorial fund to try to pay for his final funeral expenses and such as described in our local forum here in Indianapolis… As he was a friend to many….I thought you guys would want to know and let your other members know. We could use any help we can get in our memorial fund also… Thanks…. Michael A. Benz, Administrator IndyCarz.com 317-753-0412 (I found this picture on Facebook) This message has been edited by CJ on 12-19-2011 at 05:57 PM |

Very sad news. I will never forget riding with Gary at the Prowlin the Smokies event. I had just beaten his time on the autocross course that was setup in the parking lot. He was a bit upset about it and told me if he had better weight distribution, he could beat my time. He asked me to be a passenger in his Versace highboy Prowler while he attempted this. Little did I know what I was getting myself into - my life flashed before my eyes. He took a harrowing run at it but it ended when we did a 360 coming out of one of the corners - that certainly beat flipping over which I thought we were headed to. I wasn't about to try it again. Gary was polar opposite to me in many respects but I always had a soft spot for him. He always seemed to be searching for something in life I don't think he ever found. Sad to hear this about Gary

Wow, that is a shocker. He hasn't posted here for quite awhile but at one time he was in the top 5, and maybe the most frequent poster. He was way to young to be gone. What a shame. |

I also am very sad to hear about Gary's passing. He was one of the first "way out" with his Prowler modifications. It has been a long while since I last heard from him. He spent alot of time on the POA at one time. |

Gary was kind of lost after his mother past away. I seen him a few times after she passed. He cared for her for years. He was definately a different type person, very generous, but had a mean streak too. Sorry to here he has passed, would like to know more, hard to believe he didn't have enough cash or gold on him to get a proper funeral Live fast die young, RIP Gary |

WOW!!! I am devastated! I just spoke with Gary about a month ago and he did mention he tried to kill himself but I told him not to be saying such things and prayed with him that GOD would bring him out of his depression. Ever since his mom died he was never the same. I had the greatest times with Gary in Texas and on this board during the early years of the POA. Just going back and forth with jokes and me rendering all kinds of fun stuff on this board having a great time. I have MEGs and MEGs of graphics I created just having a great time on POA with Mike Krehel and Gary Cleverly. I would laugh my guts out just hearing Gary cut the jokes. Here is one of the funniest times I had with Gary: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=43vtBTHA1JQ Gary was the type of guys you either loved or hated. I for one loved him. I will miss you Gary!! As we would often say on the phone, "I love MAN!!".. This message has been edited by dpena on 12-19-2011 at 01:49 AM |
