Ok guys where is the best place to buy general accessories for the Prowler. I bought some splash guards from a big prowler place and they needed to have holes drilled in the rear for the studs to go through. I have had good luck with Tom Mills and will continue to use him but there are other parts I want. Who do you use and who do you stay away from. Thanks Hogzilla This message has been edited by Hogzilla on 11-02-2009 at 05:41 PM |

Actually the best place to get ANYTHING for the Prowler is here on POA, the best website on the internet. If someone has an extra or decides that they can part with something you will be able to get what you need. If no one has one available, they will tell you where you can get it, if it is still being produced. The luggage racks from Chrysler were discontinued a long time ago but there are vendors here that still make them, I think. Just place a "free want ad" and you will get responses. |

Thanks for the advice. I used a "store" and did not feel good about the service. I don't want to bash the guy. I just won't buy from him again. I am glad it was only splash guards and not a hard top or other high end parts. With that said I will ask questions here before I purchase anything again. |

I hate being a newbie to a hobby. I ask dumb questions, waste money with the wrong vendors until I finally get my bearings. Thanks for your patience. I am bookmarking sites as they are posted. Is there anyone out there that you know to stay away from? |

Hogzilla,I plan on making a luggage rack for the Prowler this winter. It will mount with the Prowler hitch, (close to the P.T. cruiser rack). Check out the Accent bar & the plate holder, in the Prowler Performance/Appearance Discussion. Something you might be interested in adding to your ride. |

quote: There are no dumb questions. We all were new at first. I was on my own for 5 years before finding this site. We have a host of part vendors that will give us a discounted price, like cost +10% and no tax, cost +15% free shipping and no tax on out of state purchases, etc. There is also some that many of us feel needs to be avoided. You'll find both of them on ebay. One runs a store and some think it is the POA store, but its not anything to do with the POA, and has lower quality items with higher prices. The other guy will list your item on ebay 2 hours after you mention the need for it here. He will charge you list + a premium. You'd do better getting it at your local dealer and paying full price and taxes. (Be prepared to wait a couple days for it to come in. Not much is stocked.) I won't name him cause I might get it wrong. Got myself in a jam doing that once already. Otherwise I wouldn't hessitate. If you get a raw deal, it never hurts letting US know who to stay away from too! (see above) Some dealers gouge you on prices, others don't. For example, your flaps... some dealers bumped the price up on them and sell them for $50 a pair (front OR back). I can get both front AND back for $50 plus tax at my local dealer. (Ok, maybe about $26 or $28 each.) It always pays to shop around. And you may get it cheaper (in the long run) locally instead of using our discounters, depending on the cost of the item. Never hurts to use the search feature on here. If all else fails, ask and you will get an answer. I'm not sure TGF discontinued making the hardtops, but you'll probably have a tough time getting them to make you one without getting a group of 5 or 10 together to buy them. Even then you might have to sit on the back burner for a while. Prowler luggage racks were not as good as the PT racks (I hear). You might be able to use one of our parts discounters to get you a hitch. If you plan on pulling a trailer you'll also need a harness. Make a list and maybe save on shipping if you can get it all at the same discounter. This message has been edited by idive on 11-03-2009 at 02:15 AM |

Idive, thanks for the input. Today I had the car in the shop getting the recall on the front end done. I walked over to the parts counter and asked them if he could get me a hitch. He looked it up and there were 16 in Michigan. $372 plus tax. I ordered one and it will be here by the end of the week or first part of next. I know the guy you are talking about who has low quality stuff. I bought some flaps from him I suspect. Wrote him and told him about it. Never responded. He has a Love it or Return it policy. Not worth my time. I had planned on buying some other stuff from him but after this.....no way. His loss the way I look at it. |

If you can cancel your hitch order, I would do that if I was you. You can save yourself about $100 getting it thru our parts discounters instead. I think I paid about $235 for my hitch and harness. (Its been a while but thats pretty close.) Try calling 1-800-456-5337. Ask for parts. Then ask to speak to Scott or whoever is taking over Prowler owners discount parts for Jeff Hunter. Cheaper price and no tax. They'll get it shipped to them and on to you. This message has been edited by idive on 11-04-2009 at 02:26 AM |
