To the people who want the gears but think they can't install them themselves read on. Put new gears in today. I was going to time how long it took but with all the interruptions it just wasn't possible. It all started off very easy, when it came to the part about putting the new gears on I did have a hard time. The gears are machined very close and if you don't have the splines exactly lined up it will take forever to do. Solution, I put the transmission selecter in neutral, turned the gears and they went right on. If you have the opportunity to buy gears DO IT you will be very pleased. And INSTALL them yourself. See DAN PENAs photos. There is so much help on this board and pats on the back that you can not not do it yourself. The Kat a whole new feeling. when driven normal it is a tame machine and pleasurable. When you kick it in the a__ it is a pretty darn good ride. Again thanks to all members who responded to my mundane questions and particularly the person who suggestion I contact MR. Tony Goertz. Thanks Tom |

CT WE started at 10:00AM and figured about two hours. Well it was one of the worst days I have had in a long time. It seemed like every long lost relative of my friend Randy came by. So with the open gear case staring at us we had to stop to be socialable. His garage, his lift, his tools you get the picture. WE didn't get back to it until Two o'clock. Finished at Four o'clock. |
