I have talked to many different dealers in the past couple of weeks and received conflicting stories on trailer availability. The part number the trailers are sold under has not been discontinued or obsoleted. Several of the dealers have said they would be willing to place the order. The dealers that have taken the extra steps to call the vendor about availability have been told that the vendor has no intention of making any more trailers. CJ may have more or better information on the trailers but it seems that DC is not the problem in having more trailers made. It would also seem to be worth their while to build more if they could get a large number of orders that they could then build in the same run. Maybe 30 or 40 would be worth their while. I'm still interested in getting an orange trailer. Brian |

I'm keeping my eyes open for a purple trailer. I'm not in any hurry since I won't even be driving the car for another 3 months, so I have yet to give any thought to buying a trailer of another color to have it painted. I'm not the brightest bulb on the Christmas tree, especially about vehicles, but it seems to me that at the MSRP they were asking for the trailers, there was a HECK of a lot of margin. . .I'm baffled that the vendor would refuse to make more. I would certainly be willing to get on any list for a new limited production run. |

The trailers were actually built and assembled by three different vendors. Mopar commissioned these trailers and have the rights to them. When Prowler production ended, they had approx. 147 trailers still available. They asked for my help in selling the trailers by posting it on the board. We sold all 147 in two weeks' time. I pleaded with my Mopar contact to build more of the Prowler trailers. I pointed out that at that time, there were still 1,000 unsold Prowlers in the market. I helped my contact develop a business case to present to the Mopar powers that be. They still had the components available to build 200 more trailers, but not the wheels. They were hesitant to order 400 more wheels and possibly get stuck with them if we could not sell the trailers. They finally agreed that they would build 100 and if those sold, they would build the additional 100. Within a very short time, we had all 200 Prowlers ordered by customers. This depleted all of the available components. I also spoke to the Mopar contact about whether the vendors who supplied the parts could build them "aftermarket" if Mopar was going to discontinue them. He stated that they were not interested in doing that, due to the complications of having to officially license all three vendors; all three vendors would have to agree to continue supplying parts, etc. At this point there weren't enough unsold Prowlers left for it to be an economically feasible thing to do for either Chrysler or the vendors. There will be NO more Prowlers trailers built by anyone. The only way to obtain one now is if a dealer ordered one on their own and it is still sitting around, or to buy one used and possibly have to repaint to match. But, hey, I managed to get 200 more out of them!!! The last Prowler trailer available was given to the Walter P. Chrysler Museum and was painted purple to match the Prowler they have at the Museum. |

quote: I did a total off frame rebuild on the trailer, new diamond plate frame, new wheels, repaint. It was a lot of work but it was the right way to do the job if you want 20' wheels, It looks like the trailer was made with the wheels from the factory. I have lots of photo's if you want. ------------------ |
