Let this be a warning to any Prowler owners in North Texas looking for qualified service. Took my new baby (Inca Gold 4K miles 2002) to "Eldorado Chrysler" in McKinney Texas last week for oil change. Wife and I were traveling to San Francisco for 5 days, and thought would be a good time to have serviced. I talked to Brad, a service tech, a couple of days before leaving to "interveiw" him. I felt confident they could do a good job, and was told the car would be kept inside the whole time. BOY WAS I WRONG!!! When we returned, I immed called the dealership to set up a pick up time. I was told I could come right over to get my baby. When I arrived, my Kitty was parked outside, and had MASSIVE contaniments (overspray ?) they said was tree sap !! I flipped ! I gave them 2 hours to detail the car to pristine condition. When I returned 2 hours later, most of the overspray or tree sap was removed, though not even close to when I dropped it off, and I saw two gouge marks or scratches on the drivers side headlight (painted area) that were not there before. The car had absolutely ZERO scratches when I dropped it off, as will be attested to in court by mutiple people. After going off on the assistant manager, (the General manager will not call me back) they said they would take the headlight assmbly off and have it repainted, would have to keep the car for 3 days. I told them they F*&^%$d the car up the last time it was with them and there was no way in Heck they would keep it any longer. I will have the damage appraised and they can pay the bill, or I'll see them in court. Also, upon pick up, the car had 19 miles additional on the odometer than when I dropped it off. Where from? Tonight while doing the finishing detail on the car to get it back to pristine condition, I noticed the same "overspray or tree sap on the interior mirror. THE CAR WAS LEFT TO THEM WITH THE TOP UP!!! So how did this gunk get on the interior mirror with an additional 19 miles?? Sounds like a TOP-DOWN joyride to me... After all this and 4 hours of "Clay Magic" she is once again the prettiest Kitty in Texas, but I should not have had to deal with this. So, be very aware of the hands you place you prized kitty in, they may not be as careful and caring as you may want to think. I would whole heartedly suggest you steer clear of this particular dealership at a minimum. Can anyone recommend a dealership in north Texas that wont treat my baby like a Yugo? |

Dali - Sent you an e-mail. Don't ever take your kat there - bought mine there and wouldn't let them change my oil let alone do any type of work on the kat. Take it to Bankston and let Neal take care of it - he is excellent. All of the DFW owners take their kats to him. I live north of McKinney and would rather drive to Frisco and let Neal work on it than to ever go to McKinney. Tami Fischer |

So far I have been lucky and never left mine unattended at the dealer. It doesn't hurt to carry a Smith & Wesson .357 Magnum with you when you go in for service also! They tend to take things more serious that way! (just kidding, I never pointed it at anyone!) ------------------ |

When I had the ball joints done they told me I would have to leave it. Immediatly I told them "not overnight". If you need to order something make sure it's drivable because it ain't stayin here! Turned out they did a fast and fantastic job but I will never leave it overnight at a dealer. ------------------ This message has been edited by MDProwler on 02-05-2004 at 03:27 PM |

It sounds like a very familiar story a lot of owners have experienced with different dealers.I hope you do eventually find a right place to service! Imagine what Yugo owners must go through... |

quote: You are absolutely right - they are five star and what upset me so much when I took my Prowler there was that they told me they had a knowledgeable Prowler tech and I found out later (after they skinned the nose driving it around and totally messed up everything it was in to have done) was that they just had two regular techs working on it and neither one could figure out how to fix the problems. Neal had to work on it for a couple of days to put everything back into alignment and fix all of the screw ups they did to my kat at Eldorado. Very sad. I have had to leave it several times overnight with Neal, but they put it on the hoist in Neal's bay and put it up in the air so no one can sit in it or touch it while it's there. If it's not in Neal's bay then it sits outside of Nick's office where he can see it all day long at Bankston. I've never worried when it was with Neal and Nick. They do a great job and treat it like it was their own and the only ones that drive it when needed - like when it's being delivered back to me are Neal and Nick or one of the supervisors. Thank you everyone, especially Tami ! I will call your folks in Frisco to do the paintwork that Eldoraldo scratched up. Very minor, but shouldn't have occured. I'm also Pis&%d off that I think they probably put the top down and cruised in it too... Again, thanks alot, and I will post after the work is done in Frisco. Regards, Dr. Mike ------------------ |

I have an excellant prowler tech 45 Minutes from me. I get the first apointment for the day and stay with the kat even in the garage while he works on it. Couldn't be more satisfied. I have a local dealer 2 miles away who can't even program my electronic Key. They had their little guy try to drive it on the ramp to change the oil. If i wasn't standing there to direct him he would have wiped out the bumper! Prowlers take some getting used to, and the first time its not a good idea to try to park it small spaces. ------------------ |

Everybody has their ways of getting the service department's attention. I've read above about guns and staying with the car the entire time. I chose to let the Prowler Tech drive the car to pick up his wife and take her for a ride. No problem getting him to take extra good care of it. It'stoo bad the dealership is closing. The owners bought another dealership 30 miles away. I'll have to wait and see where the Prowler Tech ends up. ------------------ |

sorry to hear about your car.having been to court myself on a couple car problems, you said they offered to repaint it,its a 1 day job.if you end up in court, and you took it some where else to get it painted, that could unfortunately go against you, because they offered and you refused.if it was me i would eat the cost to paint it.jmo.had the same thing w/mine car was clean.got back filthy and they drove w top down 36 miles. ------------------ This message has been edited by jan bruggeman on 02-06-2004 at 06:27 PM |
