I ALWAYS put the top up, but do not latch the front or back. I don't latch to relieve the tension, but mostly for quicker storage of top. I also put two covers on it-the Mopar cover and a travel cover over that one.

I do this so dust and pollen will not get in & on the car. Pollen is brutal in NC.

My situation is a little different due to the fact that I have a 2 car carport and not a garage. Wanted it that way (long story why), but now wish it was a garage. 4 stall garage/shop with office/doghouse above it is next on my wish list.

Pumpkin likes to be topless in her den. She is spoiled, and she wants to be pampered, so her den is heated and cooled. Her paws love the feel and look of checkered tile - it makes her want to go racing. At night when Pumpkin purrs that it is a little chilly, we keep her warm with a custom Prowler cover.
Oh, what is a top?

Top up and latches un latched. I keep the visors down to remind me that I have to latch them down if I have to keep the top up. It is also covered with a Cali.Car cover Co. cover.
