I got the silver PT Cruiser trailering the Prowler from Carnuts.com. I immediately painted them both as Black Tie editions. Not too shabby, even though my pictures aren't that great. the pinstripe was done with silver vinyl they use for signs...very thin and pliable. See that Jerry?!? ------------------ This message has been edited by Black Tie 161 on 02-13-2003 at 07:13 AM |

Hey Black Tie, I just visited the carnuts site and couldn't find the PT pulling the Kat on a trailer. What am I doing wrong? Did you notice they have a section to hot link to various Auto Clubs & Associations? I see the POA is not one listed. Wally |

I am actually going to have that done on my PT, except charcoal rather than black. Been playing with it in photoshop. Here is a pic of a friend of mines cruiser that I did it to. Also want to shave the handles but not sure if the wife will go for that. t ------------------ 1999 Black w/NeoBlue Streetglow Gold Series |

Black Tie 161: You knew you would freak me out, didn't you? I have been wanting to do that also since the model is not available ready painted. I would appreciate any suggestions you have to offer from your experience. Jerry |

Hmmmm.. One observation I have is that they both can't be 1/24th scale. The PT Cruiser looks huge and could easily pull the Prowler. When they are in line the PT has larger wheels. I don't think so. Am I wrong, or are they two different scales? Having said that, I like your models. I used to do them all the time and I never did as good a job as you did. Very good! |

Nice paint job! I saw the same combo at Meijers but didn't think a PT pulling a Prowler was realistic. They did have a Ram pulling a Viper and I almost bought them both. That way I would have the Ram pulling the Prowler which is the way it really is. But then I would have a PT pulling a Viper - now that is very realistic!!!:-) |

Thanks guys.. Pocotoo: I got thier last one. Jerry:I masked it off and covered the rest with a plastic bag. I did get some overspray and runs through the tape, but it easily comes off with a fingernail, as the gloss finish on the model is very slick. At the bottom of photo #2, you can see the silver vinyl I cut into very thin strips for the pinstriping. You can get it at any sign shop, and the stuff is great! I even used it to cover some runs in paint, and it worked very well. I am currently working on a superdetailed Monogram Black Tie Kit. 1/24 scale: You can see chrome shimmers on the bumper and actually read them, tach and gauges are superdetailed, and I even created a mini-me figure to put in. I'll have to take photos, but this one I am taking my time on! I plan to recreate it right down to the brake lines. |

Good Luck on the Monogram kit. Will be anxious to see it. My eyes are not good enough to build models anymore, so I have to stick with "built" models. Jerry |

Thanks Jerry, I already built one Monogram Black Tie, but I rushed it in 2 days. This one I am taking my time on this one! If you look at the top of this photo, you can see parts of it in progress. here is the Black Tie in 1/43 scale... |

I'm envious of your talent. Can't figure how you get the time considering you have to wash the Kat every day after work. |
