Like Beware, I got my name in the chatroom on the old site. I think there were 8 or 9 of us in the room and everyone was helping everyone else come up with names. Somehow, I let the guys name me. It stuck, even when I've tried to give it up. (I should have researched her before I allowed the name to stick but oh well.......too bad the image is only in one's mind.) btw - Prowlerbabe.....love your explanation!!!!!

When this thread first started yesterday I thought it was kind of lame. Now, I think it is one of the best ever. We are finding out a little about other people without asking questions that are too personal. It must be a good thread if ROGER responded. To anyone who has not yet met Roger, you are missing out. A great guy! A pretty funny post, too, Roger. ProwlerBabe, I am with you. I wanted a Prowler ever since I was a kid, and have been trying to attract babes about as long. I was pretty successful with the Prowler, at least. lol. (SANDY DOES NOT READ THIS.) She is a babe, anyway. One in a million to put up with me. CJ is still not that happy with me for commenting on another thread so I am not about to divulge Camille's real name. Enought said. |
GRROWL POA Site Supporter Prowler Junkie From:Herndon, VA |
posted 08-28-2002 09:12 PM
Actually, my son Kevin (who some of you met at Bert's) came up with GRROWL when I read that there were two Plymouth sound engineers that worked on the Prowler development. At this time (early 2000) it was rumored that the Growler would be coming out as the truck version -this would also corner the name in VA. VA was coming out with INTERNET C@PITAL plates, which had a 6-letter limit (yes, GRROWL was paid for with Internet money - at least someone in POA appreciates VeriSign, but that's another story). I liked GRRROWL, but too many letters. GROWL was taken, and didn't make full use of the available 6 letters. SOOOOooooooooo, GRROWL was the obvious choice. As shown on the picture below, all letters are capitalized, so I use that form in my user name. I'm not sure when "GRROWL" refers to the car, or when "GRROWL" refers to me. It's somewhat of an identity crisis.

Okay, I will explain it for fixxum. Ed is short for Edd. The M represents the first letter in my last name. The O stands for the second letter in my last name. The first N is for the third letter in both my last name and my screed name. The first A represents the fourth letter and the H is for the 5th letter in my screen name ONLY. The next A is for the second last letter in my real name and the N is for the N. The end. |

posted 08-28-2002 09:32 PM
My real name is Rick, but a co-worker started calling me Rickster about ten years ago. I almost don't even answer to Rick since so many people call me Rickster. Prior to the Prowler I had collegiate plates (Univ of MO) on my Corvette. Since Missouri only allows five digits, I had to shorten it to RKSTR. When I picked up the plates at the DMV the clerk asked, "What band do you belond to?" I couldn't imagine why she would ask me this question. She thought RKSTR stands for rockstar. I can't tell you how many times I have been at a stoplight in the Prowler and someone asks what band I belong to. Rkstr |

VirginiaCatDude -> Virginia, because I live in Virginia. -> Cat, because I own a Prowler (Cat). -> Dude, because I'm a Dude. Funny thing is - I own two dogs... So my friends and my neighbors all asked me where the "Cat" came from in the license plate... I can't remember how many times I have been asked...lol... My dad has an on-line name too: VaCatDudeSr... You can figure that one out, yourself... but he is not active on-line (yet). |

For years, all the folks in our Sand Car group have gone by our nicknames. We all have names like Dune Dog, Lefty, Re-rig, Endo, BBQ, Mad Dog, etc. The group gave me my name because I let out a hell of a Tarzan yell (with the help of a few beers). |

Mine is a take off of my last name (Schwarz) and the first initials of my family members Kurt/Leslie/Katie. I use this handle for many log-ons for our family so it is easy to remember. Also, when I signed up for this site, I was so excited about owning a Prowler, I could not think up any thing more creative. ------------------ |

PANTHER CITY PROWLER POA Site Supporter Prowler Junkie From:Ft Worth, Tx |
posted 08-29-2002 08:42 PM
Ft Worth and Dallas were rival cities for many years. After the Civil War a Dallas newspaper reported that things were so bad in Ft Worth that "a panther was seen sleeping in Main Street". Rather than object to the report Ft Worth citizens started referring to their City as Panther City. To this day numerous businesses in Ft Worth use Panther in the name (Panther Oil & Gas....ect) so I thought it logical to fit this into my user name. Panther City Prowler --- from Ft Worth, were the West Begins. (the rivalry is not quite dead as we like to point out to our neighbors that are east of the Trinity River that if Panther City is were the West Begins then Dallas must be were the East peters out.) |
