Definately lucky to be alive..... The two cars that supposedly caused the accident ran from the scene two other cars were involved in an accident I think trying to avoid hitting me.... |

Yeah when you get hit going around 70mph on the freeway and then hit the concrete wall, and the front tires break off you're pretty much along for the ride I can still hear the sounds in my head.... I probably won't be going to sleep today. Ron |

quote: Now, where are responses from the ones who say that street racing is O.K. and they are always in control???? Amateurs are never in control because: Where I live, about 6 months ago a street racer was apparently drag racing his honda civic, hit a curb which caused his car to be airborn (sideways) cutting the car in half and decapitating himself. RACING SHOULD BE DONE ON RACETRACKS!!!!! Glad you are o.k. and I hope they nail the coward bastards that did this to you. ------------------ Driving a car is just transportation, |

You are certainly a most fortunate man..... the car can be replaced. It hurts to look at it I am sure..... but you are SOOOOOOOOO lucky to be alive to tell about it. Hope they catch the guys who caused it. John PS. I think it also proves that the Cats are built well and crash worthy. ------------------ 2001 Orange, Mopar Exhaust, MTD Intake, Front and Rear Mud Flaps, Chrome Shimmers, Orange Prowler Logo Valve Caps, Ceramic Brake Pads, Prowleronline.com License Bracket, Eric Wolf Chrome Trans Cover, Mopar Hitch and Trailer. |

quote: Looks it to me but, the value of repair has to be (something like) 70% of the total of the vehicle in order to consider it totaled. In other words, if your car is worth (or you owe) $40K on it, then the damage must be close to $30K worth. Here is one thing to watch out for. Estimates (from car dealerships and body shops) will low bid that body damage. In alot of cases, they will even leave off a number of parts that need repair. Why? Because if the car is totaled, they get nothing but, if they can make it look like the amount of work needed is considerably less then the totaled amount, the checks starat pouring in. Then, somewhere during the process, they will add on more damage. At this point, even if the amount of work equals 100% of the vehicle value, the insurance company will pay it as they are already into the repairs for $10-20K and don't want to loose that. I know this from experience with a wreck we had (that should have been totaled). Get two or three independat estimates from people that will not get the work one way or the other. ------------------ Driving a car is just transportation, |

Wow, after seeing the pictures you were REALLY lucky not to be hurt, especially in a convertible. I would say the car is probably totalled but who knows for sure. |

Yes I definately have some stiffness in my neck.... I just went over to the bodyshop that I had the car taken to. Talked to the guy that usually works on Prowlers.... He said that he guesses at least $30k in damages.... I bluntly told him that I did not want the car fixed, and that I understood that it didn't do them any good, but by a safety standpoint that I would not feel safe driving that vehicle any longer.... Hopefully I will be getting a new replacement kat in the near future.... Belive me these cars are designed well, and me walking away proves it! Ron |

Ron - sorry to hear your story and the pictures. Looks gone to me. Only good thing right now is that you are alright and there are tons of cats on AutoTrader.com at very reasonable prices. Trey - it didn't sound like street racing, Ron said he was on the freeway, where many mad-minded people drive way too fast in a situation with 'thousands of other cars' all around them. These are the mindless souls who don't care about their lives, let alone yours. Most 'street racers' care about lives,,,,theirs and yours,,,,,but at a certain moment let the adrenalin rush do the thinking for them. |

Glad to here that you are OK. You really ought to consider start wearing your seat belt. Especially in a roadster with the top down. Did the air bag deploy? Do the cops have any hope of catching the perps? This message has been edited by BeWare on 08-05-2002 at 09:30 AM |

It's sad to see the pictures of your car, but great to hear your ok. Top up or down, we all have to be wearing our seat belts in these cars to protect ourselves from the idiots who can't drive. We can afford to replace the kat, but can not afford to loose an owner. Take care of yourself the next couple of days, from the looks of things, it may be more than your feelings hurt. ------------------ |
