Since I'm sure you've tried them all, which wax would be the best? I'm trying to find the one that leaves the least amount of powder, yet protects and maybe even brings out the pearl a little more on my Mulholland.Your opinions and experiences would be greatly appreciated.

I've only used Meguiar's products to date. I've had great luck with Quick Detailer & Final Inspection. These are excellent for the "dry" wash approach. But now I have to deal with hard water, which causes spots - no matter what I do. I've heard many good things about Zaino, and I will be trying it very soon!

I am in process of waxing my Kat (also Blue) for the first time, and I am using Zaino. It is a multi-step process and will take a few days to complete (it recommended to wait at leat 24 hours between coats).

I have just finished the first coat and am impressed. It is fairly simple to apply and take off, and there is almost no dust or residue when removing. After just one coat I already have a pretty deep/wet finish. Can't wait to see it when it's done.

We use Mother's 3-step with some Simonize paste or Mother's paste on the final step. 3M on the tires because of the gloss level. Mother's Back-To-Black on the miscellaneous plastic pieces such as the stone shields on the fenders.

For quick clean-up, we use Meguiar's Quick Detailer.

Bob likes the Mother's because of the depth of the shine. He always says that it looks like you can reach right into the paint!

Have never tried the Zaino's, but many people on this board seem to like it a lot!

How does that Mother's Back-To-Black work. Can you use it on grey or just black.

Zymol 38% carnuba for my purple girl. A coat every month with pre wax cleaner first. Wow what a shine and stands up to the tough Texas heat. They make different compounds for the different tint bases of colors. They were also great in discussing their products. Zymol was also ranked #1 by Consumer Reports for their cleaner wax. JOMO

As we all know not all waxes work great on all cars...BUT...I've been using one that was given to me years ago by Dodge at a Viper invitational. It called Mopar Cleaner Wax.....not the Mopar Cleaner Polish from Chrysler dealers...The cleaner wax can only be bought at a Dodge dealer and it's made by Maquires for Dodge. This stuff is great, especially on dark colors....Easy on easy off. Hazes quickly and you can do a section as a time or put it on the entire car...I've used it on cars from Ferraris to Trucks...
The cost is $7.00...will do about 15 cars.

Zaino is great. Takes more time, but worth it. Zaino leaves no residue in the crevices. No buffing needed. Touch up spray is excellent. Mink oil leather treatment is the best I've found. Check out www.zainobros.com.

Love Zaino. My Black Cat was used as a show car for Zaino with about 8 coats. Great shine on black

Zaino for me. It takes a bit longer, but, as stated before, it's worth it! Also, I heard Sal developed a new product to replace Z1. It's supposed to drastically cut down on the drying time and makes the shine even better, though it is not yet for sale.

Sasy,

Sorry it took so long to respond. We're up at the cottage and have been working all day outside, putting the dock and boats in the lake and yardwork!!

Anyway, yes, the Mother's works wonderfully on the plastic parts. You just wipe it on and wipe off any excesss.

Have never tried it on gray, so I can't vouch for that at all. To be honest, since my cat is black, I never paid attention as to whether you could use it on anything else but black. If you would like, when we get home, I would be happy to check the bottle and see what it says.

OK thank you, on my new PT I have a lot of exterior plastic
that needs some tending. Had it waxed and some areas have a bit of white wax dried. I heard that "Back to Black" works great to get rid of this residue.

Thanks a lot

Sassy, Protect's All's slogan is that "Protect All does it all" and they are not kidding, wipe on wipe off for a deep shine and wax, use on plastic, window's, vinyl, leather, ANY surface... I just like the "as new" look of the Der Shiney Stuff for the tires. I'm not into the "wet" tire look, personally (although, Protect ALl does not give that wet look). No more 3 days of waxing, simply wipe it on and off with a high fribre cloth, NOT diaper's). Leaves windows perfectly clean with ONE pass, and NO residue, far better then that Corvet window cleaner someone mentioned sometime back, got some and tried it, not even close. Here is my post on contact info http://www.prowleronline.com/ubb/Forum1/HTML/001384.html
Don't take my word for it, ask Cliff "cwatsonjr" about it, I showed him how great this works and he rushed out and got some at Camper World. Zaino my be hot stuff, but this works just as well or awfully close and does not take 3 days to apply! As I said, it also works on ALL other surfaces too!

I don't know what you guys art talking about taking days to polish a car with Zaino. Here are the directions on their web site:

"Start with Z-1 Polish Lok as per directions. Z-1 does not need to dry. Remember do not wipe off the Z-1 Polish Lok. Apply Z-5 or Z-2 directly over the Z-1."

It is the fastest wax job I have ever done. I have two Prowlers and people come up to me and ask where I got the paint job because it is so high gloss. There is nothing better that I have ever found. Try it, and see if you have ever seen a gloss like it.

You just put step one on (Z-1). A light coat. It takes me 15 minutes to do the whole car…. No rubbing. I usually take a break, and then go out after a half an hour and put the step two part on (Z-3).… No rubbing again. By the time I am through the starting point is hazing and I just wipe it off. Almost no white powder. It is hard to tell if it actually hazed over. That is all there is to it. Almost no elbow grease and I find it faster and better than any other form of making your car a "show car".

I did it to my new orange as soon as I got it. There are no abrasives and no rubbing so you can do it to a new car. Both my cars are swirl free.

Sasy,

Mothers Back-to-Black.......

"Revitalize & beautify all color exterior trim, bumpers, bumper guards and flat blacks" (On front on bottle)

(On back of bottle) Perfect for all exterior trim. Use on vinyl, rubber, plastic and flat finishes. NOTE: Areas to be treated need NOT BE BLACK to obtain superior results. Perfect for smooth and textured surfaces, bumpers, protective and decorative moldings, louvers, air vents, window trim and wiper arms.

When used as directed, Back-to-Black removes oxidation, ground in dirt, wax residue and surface film. Treated surfaces will look new again and be protected against further oxidation or deterioration caused by sun, smog, ozone, water, chemicals and airborne contaminants.

Well, now we both know!!

PurplePacifican,

No question about the ease of applying and removing the Zaino products. However, the wait time in-between is what I was refering to. Per application information on the Zaino Website:

"After removal of Zaino Z-2 or Z-5. You should wait 24 hours if the outside temperature is under 70 degrees and 6 hours if over 70 degrees, before applying the next coat of Z-5 or Z-2."

I started polishing mine on Friday and finshed it on Sunday with 3 coats. It looks great.
