Hey now, I am trying to modify my fuel pump regulator. I will first try to find a new spring for it. If not, I will try a spacer under the original spring. Need to find out what device is controlling the rev limiter and what to do to trick it. Then I drop in the 10 sec motor. See what it will do then on to the 9's.................baby steps.......

Jerry, why not replace your present regulator and pump, or run a parallel system to kick in when the pressure drops?
So JD, what's a 413 hemi? I know of the max wedge at that displacement. Is that the size of the new motor DC has?

Hey now Al, I have done some checking into different systems. The problem is the prowler is a deadhead system. All the manufactures I have spoken to say I would need new fuel rails. In the prowler service manule, it says that the prowlers fuel pump can produce a max of 130 psi deadhead pressure. I only need maybe 10 psi. more than what I am getting now. If you know a supplier with a system that would work with the present system, let me know and I will find out. I'm gonna need this fix to get in the mid to low 11's............

Al, If I remember correctly, 413 is the final cu. in. of a bored and stroked stock motor back in 69. I could be wrong, but a friend of mine had it in a 55 Chevy. It was one of the quickest cars I've rode in. Course, the front seats never got bolted down (before he wrecked it), so that added to the feel when he would pop wheelies.

Jerry talking nice? Has he ever not?

Hey now, I was asking for info from others that know from experience. Anyone that has unlimited mola can just pay. Where I am now, only experience can solve. This ain't no boat, so Gary "The Engine Blower" can't help, I guess he put too much pitch on that prop. He's too busy taking bets on how long it will take a prowler tech to swap out his blown motor. He can use that blown motor for a boat anchor. I guess he is the first to blow a prowler motor, so what does he know??? Anyway, I was just asking. Mike hasn't responded to any of my post since I clipped his nads and took'em back to FL. with me. So Butchee.........come clean with the info!

Jerry, I haven't done any work on my fuel pump yet. I had the Auto Meter resettable fuel pressure meter and the pressure dropped down to nearly 30 psi with a 50 shot that day at the track. The existing pump can probably supply a greater pressure with a regulator spring change and you will have a more pressure until you need more fuel for the supercharger/nitrous, then I don't think that the existing pump will supply enough volume of fuel. I think the best approach is to replace the fuel pump with a higher delivery unit.

It looks like you're on the right track with your new motor! Will Bubba be taking video at your next track outing? I saw some of the pictures that Jerry Heasley took at the track and your MT's looked pretty wicked wrinkling up on your launches!

BTW, my nads are just fine thank you!

Hey now Mike, hows they haggen....So when you gonna head back to the track??? I just got a call that I will get my car back tomarrow. If I get the fuel thing fixed, it looks like next Fri. I'll be back for that 11 sec run. The new motor is comming along, it will be a 10 sec for sure if the tranny holds out. I got Wiseco making me some lightweight pistons. They were inpressed with how well the prowlers stock pistons are constructed. The only bad thing they feel the top ring is too close to the top, the ring gap is a little excessive for racing and the pin could use a cross drilled oil holes but overall, a great stock piston. I'm also gonna get new rods with a smaller pin hole so to loose some weight there too. I still need to find someone to do my heads, you know, larger exhaust valves. Champion Racing Heads are made here in Palm Coast but they are way over booked. I'm looken for another source as I cant wait 2 months to get this motor done...........

Alex,

Sometimes topics get side tracked and sometimes you can learn more from the path that they take.

Fuel pump delivery problems... Bored and stroked? These are some of the mods that are currently being done to make our Prowlers go faster!

Getting back to your question, I plan on putting the Mopar exhaust on my Mulholland tomorrow.

My current mods are:
1997 Purple Prowler (stock)
1999 Yellow Prowler (headers, Straight pipes, gears)
1999 Purple Prowler (headers, Hennessey GTX / nitrous package, Borla exhaust, gears, Real Rod bumper delete/ roll pan, Mac xenon HID headlights, chrome grille)
1999 Black Prowler (Paxton supercharger, nitrous, gears, Real Rod side pipes, soon to be TGF bumper delete/ roll pan and hard top, Mac xenon HID headlights, and maybe a few more goodies in the works)
1999 Red Prowler (stock except for glass packs)
2000 Silver Prowler (stock)
2000 Woodward edition (stock)
2001 Black Tie edition (stock)
2001 Orange Prowler (stock and the very last Plymouth Prowler made)

Jerry, Why you going with the smaller pins? Why not tool steel tapered light guys? This way you'll still have the same piston load area. New pistons-forged or cast?. If forged, they'll probably be heavier-top ring up too far will break under detonation. You're gonna rebalance all-right.? This guy Matt at Finishline claims he has ported Cat heads with a 30 HP rear wheel gain. I'll see soon. He claims he can supply larger valves, but I'm not going that way. He's almost caught up and I expect to give him my car next week-1 1/2 months late!
