Just a quick update. I just spoke with Debbie Schirico and Phill is now at home. He has had a couple of radiation treatments and is feeling pretty good. Takes a few naps during the day, but what the h&ll, he deserves them. They want to express their thank you to everyone online and hopefully we can talk Phill into making a few posts in the next couple of days. Keep up the praying people...IT'S WORKING!!! Should anyone want the address to send anything or # to call, please e-mail me. Thanks again and God Bless you all! ------------------ |

I would like to take time to give an update. After speaking with Phill today I am quite saddened by his moral. We need to keep up the praying more now than ever. Phill was quite depressed, as should be expected, but more so than I thought. He is quite weak from all the radiation and medicine he is taking. The nausea has definitely kicked in! Should anyone have a special prayer, PLEASE, PLEASE speak NOW! The outlook is not very good, but WE ARE NOT GIVING UP! "Please God let this man have the ability to stay strong and fight this disease and to achieve peace and serenity in his life!" I am available to discuss this as many of you have called and e-mailed me! Please don't be shy. This wonderful man has enriched so many peoples lives and deserves a group like ours to fight and pray for him. Thanks again for your thoughts, prayers and best wishes. Dan- How about another fine PRAYER?

Phill & Debbie, To the nicest folks we ever met: Ya'll are truly in our thoughts and prayers right now, our whole family feels for yours. Those of us in Lawton empathize with you both during your plight, hoping that you recover soon. Patrick wants to tell you that he thought you and Debbie are very nice people and he is glad there are people like you in this world. I agree, you have set a good example for all in that you were willing to share your time and resources to cheer up a fellow who is also very ill. There is nothing that makes us feel more helpless than illness. Sadly, its something that we usually cannot control. The Bible says at Proverbs 18:14 that "The spirit of a man can put up with his malady, but as for a stricken spirit, who can bear it?" Certainly the natural reaction to pain and suffering is depression. Believe me we've had our share too, but nothing in comparison to what you are going through at this time. A positive spirit can help us to deal with the trials of life, it is a quality God gave us to help us cope. There is an old old Greek proverb that goes something like this (apologies for the chauvinistic tone of this, like I said, it's an OLD Greek proverb): "An old man is giving advice to his son regarding the son's future. He tells the young man 'Get married, my son, get married. And if you find a good wife, you'll be happy, and that's a good thing.' At that time he pauses and ponders, then says 'And if you don't find a good wife, you'll become a philosopher, and that is also a good thing.'" Hard as it may seem, one thing we can control to some degree is how we view it, becoming a 'philosopher' as it were. It helps, for example, to reflect on the blessings of your life. One blessing we have seen firsthand is the kind and generous qualities your wife has. My wife and daughter got to know Debbie because she gave up her seat in your Prowler so someone else could ride. Donna and her sister, Karen, Jessica and Debbie rode out to the mountains and back in Karen's Suburban. Jessica said that Debbie gave her the most lasting impression of the event. She emphasized her sweet, personable, and caring spirit toward our family. Jessica felt very bad when I told her you are sick. At the same time, she felt good for you because you both expressed such likable qualities. Proverbs 18:22 describes the value of a good wife. It says: 'Has one found a good wife? One has found a good thing, and one gets goodwill from God.' I certainly think this could apply to you. Additionally, think of the friends you have, friends that care deeply about you and your welfare. Verse 24 of chapter 18 says: 'There exist companions disposed to break one another to pieces, but there exists a friend sticking closer than a brother.' It's been said that to be loved, you must be lovable. Our family has only had a few treasured hours with you and Debbie, but I'm a good judge of character and I believe you and Debbie to be very lovable folk. We're not alone, it's obvious others feel the same and all are pulling for you. Hopefully, reflecting on your blessings will help you realize you are really very fortunate. On top of that, you told me you like Bluegrass music, and nothing separates the men from the boys more than a love for good Bluegrass music. Perhaps you may want to fire up your stereo with some Bill Monroe, he always lifts my spirits. There is something about music that bouys a man's attitude. When you get well (keep positive), I'll bring my kids to see you. I don't know if I told you, but Patrick's older brother, Jeremy, and sister, Jessica, play violin and viola. They're not totally corrupted by Mozart & Bach, they know how to saw off some breakdowns reminiscent of Bill Monroe and Bob Wills (they were hired to play behind Ray Price for a gig in west Texas just a week after ya'll came up in October). I know they would like to entertain you after you get better, they both think very fondly of you two. Phill, try hard to think good thoughts. Don't allow yourself to succumb to negative thoughts if you can do anything to avoid it. Same for you, Debbie, we know this is very hard for you too. Keep in mind the words of Revelation 21:3,4: "With that I heard a loud voice from the throne say: 'Look! The tent of God is with mankind, and he will reside with them and they will be his peoples. And God himself will be with them. And he will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away." We all pray for that day for us all. With our heartfelt respect and love, P.S. Did you hear about the high school football player who was invited to 3 different colleges by the respective recruiters?? He first went to Texas A&M. Visiting with the coach he saw a gold telephone with a slot in it. He asked the coach what it was, the coach told him "It's our direct line to God." The kid was impressed and told the coach how nice it would be to talk to God. The coach said fine, but that it would cost $400 to do so and he could put his money in the slot. The football recruit didn't have the money so he declined. |

My thoughts are defenately to Phill and Debbie.... Phill......have you thought of using alternative medicine? I would try it before anything else. Try a Reiki healing or rebirthing (i think it's spelled like that). I know a lot of people that cured themselves from illnesses and it works if you believe and have faith....an example is my fiance.... I know this isn't the best timing, but we need prayers. Following is an e-mail from Debbie Schirico I received last night. 12/30/2001 Dear Family and Friends, We hope you all had a very Merry Christmas and prayers for a Blessed New Year. Our next vaccine in scheduled for Wednesday, January 2.2002 at 11:00AM. We pray that we can receive the vaccine and this will be the next step in the direction the Lord takes us for healing. We continue to pray for healing, however the cancer is progressing rapidly. I do believe God is cradling Phill in His loving arms to ease the pain and suffering and to comfort him. The medication has been increased to help control the pain; he is resting comfortably. He was recently diagnosed with pneumonia and a bladder infection and is being treated with antibiotics. We pray for his strength to fight back. The Doctors and Nurses are beginning to prepare us for Phill's departure from this earth and to be received into our Lords arms in the kingdom of heaven. Thank you to everyone for the extensive love and support shown. This is where we continue to get our strength day by day.
Protect me, Lord God! I run to you for safety and I have said You, Lord, are all I want! You are my choice, and you keep me safe. I praise you, Lord, for being my guide. Even in the darkest night, your teachings fill my mind. You have shown me the path to life and make me glad by being near to me. Love and Blessings to all, Debbie and Phill Please, let us all pray for Phill & Debbie at the very trying time! ------------------ |
