In the January Issue of Road & Track there is a cool article Called "Sibling Rivalry" by Jay McNally. The article tested most of the major car manufactuers 2 top sports cars. There is the:

Camaro SS & Corvette Z06
Honda S2000 & Acura NSX
M roadster & Z8
Boxster S * 911 TT
Ferrari 360 & 550
SLK & SL500

No Viper & Prowler?????

How come they always forget about the Prowler? It would have been great to see how the Prowler & Viper stacked up against the others. Send you complaints to:

RTLetters@hfmmag.com

Lets give them and ear full. I have not seen one complete article on the prowler yet!

Spoons, I have always felt that way. There are always car articles on multiple magazines like Maxim's-Top 100 cars of the Millenium-there where all type of cars including the Ford Excursion as the top SUV and even some BMW and a Dodge Neon, but no Prowler. I always feel left out when it comes to national coverage. Iam glas iam not the only one

The Prowler got a lot of press in the proto years and maybe in the first model year-not much has changed since then. I'm afraid we're old news!

Not enough cars produced is why, same reason you don't see my writes ups of cars like Aston Martins, Rolls Royce Cornich (they make 200 a year), Lamborgini's (SP) etc... be glad we're one of the rare ones I say!

Brian - the only complete article I've read was the one in the MoPar magazine on Dean's Prowler Pro Prowler, titled "CLAWS". Worth reading.

all good excuses but if the Prowler is old news then what is the NSX & SL500? They have not had a face lift in almost a decade. It can't be low production #'s because they alway do articles on the really exotic cars like Saleen S7, Pangi Zonda C12, Aston Martini DB7's and others. They do articles on prototype cars that will never be produced. Besides I think there were more Prowlers sold last year then NSX's??? I need better excuses then I might believe ya.
I love my Cat and it is good to be grouped with the exotic though.

Brian- I love our car too, but being realistic, its no NSX. It might draw more attention (the Prowler) but engineering wise,
its no match. Maybe the purists that go for the european flair side with the more esoteric cars, while we have to wait for the hot rod mags to pick us up as we tend to appeal to that crowd-Actually, everyone looks!!! Like Larry Lord says "wish I had a V8".

Something else to consider is , I wonder how much these mags get "greased" to do a report or test on a vehicle. Betcha theres a lot of behind the scenes stuff that goes on.

True enough, but the fact is, NOTHING else compares to a Prowler, and I PREFER it that way, where with these others, THEY are all SPORTS CARS, we have a production Hot Rod, and the ONLY production hot rod ever made! When they do a write up about a sports car, there is always a comparison to another somewhere of why this or that is better or not as good as.

Spoons, I save articles from newspapers and magazines. I'm sure I don't have anywhere near the amount that has been published on Prowler. However, the latest one I have was a complete 2-page article on the Prowler in the February 1998 issue of AutoWeek. The cover had a yellow Prowler on it.

Automobile magazine has a survey in this months edition.

Chrysler Prowler is listed in the sports car below $40K catagory.

Excuse me, Chrysler?, not yet and BELOW $40K?
I think the 97 was almost $40K (sticker) but all went for 2-3-4 times that.

Go figure.....

the 1997 prowler went for:

$39,300
+ 700 for destination charges
$40,000

Mine was a late 1997 and it sold for $72k and that was from one dealer to another dealer.
