I am a full line Motorola Two way radio dealer, As well as an 2000 BLK owner if you would like to purchase as a group I would be happy to sell at my cost. As far as vox do not use it while the vehicle is in motion with top down it will never work because of the surounding wind noise stick with the speaker/lapel mikes are much better. also carrying the spare batteries is a must. I will post prices ASAP ps the batteries cost me 4 cents each in bulk so that would be a big savings. I would like to do this in bulk as there is better pricing involved. let me know your thoughts ------------------ |

Ron, which model do you see as "perfect for Prowlin?" Could you stick your preferences in with prices. |

Hi Mike- I like the basic TA250 but a lot of people are going to the T289. Motorola is coming out now with a lot of new models that have several new features which I don't think you will need. We are also a Motorola Distributor here at my company, but we deal in the Law Enforcement market and Ron has alot in stock and can make you some good deals. The TA250 with the Earbud inline mic has worked great for me. PaulR |

Ron, thanks for your post. I have Motorola Spirit two-way radios. Series MV11CL. VHF 1 Watt. Are these radios compatiable with what others use? It says on the box, they will go up to 5 miles (on Route 66 conditions). Thanks Roger |

I'm interested. Battery life is a real pain on these things...Is rechargeble batteries a good alternative for these?

Laddie- The SLK280's are re-chargeable and you cab also by the ni cad batteries or standard, whichever you prefer. It is a GREAT unit and probably the smallest of all the Motorola's out there. I beleive they are actually discontinuing this # and replacing it with the New S289 or T289 which has am/fm bands as well and comes with different battery options. I hope that confuses you! |

I bought the Nicads recharger deal and you will be lucky if they last a day, the reg. Batteries last one person all through the Woodward deal. If the Nicads go dead then you have to have the other package that carrys the reg. batteries and change everything out. 40 bucks for the nicads is expensive and you are better off to to buy bulk of the alk. Reg. batterys. Does any one want to buy my NiCads, they S$ck? The more you talk the faster the batterys will discharge. If you just listen they are supposed to last up to 30 hours, for the Alk. reg. batterys. On the SLK280's they have a timer to shut off the radio after one hour. Hope this helps. |

I would be interested. I have some cobras but like the sub channel option. So would like to be added to the list. Also need the speaker mic or head set of some sort. ------------------ |

In Northern California we have been using the Motorola Talkabout 200. Work good for about a mile and battery's last a couple days from our experience. ------------------ |

****'s sporting Goods has an ad for Motorola Talkabout 250 radios for $50 after rebate. It has 14 channels and 38 privacy codes. I think Richard's (apparently you cannot print the shorter name) is a national chain. FYI, I don't know anything about them. Just wanted to let everyone know. For whatever it's worth,,, I just ordered a Motorola slk289 and a lapel speaker/mic from the guys that GaryC recommended. The total cost including shipping to my door is $113.95. No Sales Tax. That's much better than any other deals that I had been able to find. |
