I had the prowler shutting off at about 125 or so, these things stink behind the wheel at that speed, 130+ in a 383 stroker jeep, this sucked worse at that speed, and a little over 145 in a z06, still puckered up but not like the other two white knuckle rides. Ran a friends super gas camaro at commerce and was in the 160 range in a qtr. As fast as I wanted to go and not have to change my shorts.. Alright Bob I had taken a vow to keep your story a secret but you leave me no choice- The Prowler Gods were angry the day of the auto-cross. The heat was scorching and there was anxiety in the air. I was minding my own business when I see Bob in line to make his run. He asked me if I wanted to go through the course as a passenger I said yes. It seemed innocent enough at the time. I had to wear the helmet from his former victim uh I mean passenger. The helmet was excessively sweaty and smelled of adrenaline. We chatted moments before my tale of woe began. Everything was normal until it was Bob's turn. When the green flag was waved everything went into a surreal slow motion and an agonizing wail emitted from deep within Bob's soul. I was pinned back to my seat but I could still look down enough to see Bob's hand on the Hurst shifter. His finger nails had instantly grown long and pointed, massive amount of hair suddenly sprouted from the top of his hands and fingers. As we approached the first turn there was a laughing skeleton pointing to the shortest path. Bob followed it as though he had designed it. We were now on the straight away and the Beast crushed the steering wheel with his left paw and his steed took off as if the hounds of Hell were close behind. I looked into the rearview mirror and his pupils had become catlike. I quickly looked at his profile and there were pointed ears and protruding canines. Yes my Friends I was riding shotgun with THE WOLFMAN! My life flashed before me. With sparks flying and the smell of burning rubber in the air the Wolfman demanded more speed. The Kat responded with angry rebellious power. The demonic figures guided him through the turns of fury. Suddenly we were braking for the finish cones I could feel the Kat tremble. When my head came back into normal position I looked over at the Beast but instead it was Bob. No pointed ears no canines. So if Bob ever asks you to ride shotgun, don't think twice cause it ain't alright. That my story and I'm stiickin' to it. |

Jeff I have printed your story and will laminate it to reside next to the trophy. But you still did not answer my question, "Would you run your own car around cones?" As a spectator it does not look that fast but in the seat is a whole new perspective. ------------------ |

I had my Prowler often on 120mhp, one time (downhill)on+140mph but the fuel shot off limited me down. Last Sunday we had in the SL55 on A5 Heidelberg to Frankfurt 190mph on the speedo for a short time.[img] |

Bob there are several reasons I didn't run the course that day. First and foremost and this will sound whack to some, but I have had some incredible premonitions in my life. One in particular actually saved my life and another one could have saved a friends life if only the people around him had listened. Long story short, I had one that day of the autocross. Didn't know if it was for me or someone else but there was something in my being that stopped me from entering my Kat. Later it was realized when I was helping remove that BEAUTIFUL Woodward off the track. I know it probably sounds crazy but it is mine to live with. Truth be known being that I was so far from home without a car hauler, I probably would have abstained anyway. I did however enjoy the "TAIL" the day before. I actually learned what my Kat was capable of on the "TAIL" Riding with you made me appreciate what my girlfriend had gone through on the "TAIL" It is quite a different feeling in the passenger seat. The guy in the Kat behind me said my right rear tire was off the ground in one of the turns. Looking back now I realize how well my girlfriend did. It's funny I remember her saying wow look at that beautiful water and I said really. there is water? I'll bet it is beautiful. I wish now I had stopped to see it, but those awesome curves dictated otherwise. Anyway thanks again BOB!, you done good. P.S. Would that I could have one for show and one for go! |

Prowler: Over 110mph with the top down. Plymouth Laser Turbo: Unknown since the speedometer was pegged at 155mph, and I kept accelerating. You know how at certain speeds with the top down, any hair products you put in your hair turns to oil? Well, the day we did 110mph with the top down, our sunscreen stopped working, and Melissa and I turned red as cooked lobsters soon after. -Dan |

quote: 180 km in Prolwer = 111.85 mph 280 km in vette = 173.992 mph - was this a european version or a US vette? You probably hit max speed ... a car amgazine topped out a US C5 at 176 mph How does the vette handle at those speeds? I took my C5 to about 120 and loved it! At 100 mph and above, the C5's aerodynamic belly pan really sucks the car down to the pavement. It feels glued to the road. |
