Sacramento Ronald McDonald House
2010-06-22
The Sacramento Ronald McDonald House has served approximately 10,000 families since opening in 1998. They provide a place where families can rest, reflect and find mutual support from other families who are facing similar struggles as they receive medical treatment for their seriously ill or injured child at any of the area hospitals. This is a very personal time and pictures of the children and their families are prohibited. Thanks to Karen for her photo contribution.
We arrived on a sunny and warm evening. We were greeted by the Facility Manager, Lois, and the Director, Catherine, and there staff. We received a very informative tour of the house. It is truly amazing what kind, giving and caring hearts there are in the world.
We are not permitted to show pictures of the children and their families, but trust us, you would have been all smiles and maybe have a tear in your eye seeing how much joy they received with the Prowlers on stage.
We allowed them to sit in the cars and view the engine. We took pictures of the families (with their permission) and presented them to the staff. One child thought they were a large plastic likeness of a car - how funny is that. Some asked for the keys and others had a difficult time relinguishing the seat - they just didn't want to leave.
The Ronald McDonald House rely on volunteer support and contributions. The Sacramento House has over 100 volunteers and can always use more. Here we have a Prowler group member (Danny) out servicing the sprinkler system. Thank you Danny and I am sure the RM House Staff are very appreciative of your gift.
The NorCal Prowler Group is a very loving, friendly and giving group. Here we are in the middle of the week giving back. Thanks to (left to right) Karen and Rich (Santa Rosa), Danny and Angelica (Santa Rosa), Gerie and Tom (Elk Grove) and Carolyn and Tony (Eldorado Hills).
Of course after a warm day of giving, we now need to refresh ourselves. Off we go to a local restaurant where we had lots of laughs and cool refreshments. Thanks to all of you around the globe for giving back. Hey Rich, wait for the rest of us!!!!
