Mike Krehel sets World Record for Fastest Prowler 11:65 ET
2004-02-29
Mike set the record in a run against me in my Red Prowler on Sunday, Feb. 29th at the Mopars vs Corvette Club Challenge at No Problem Raceway in Belle Rose, LA. Mike ran a 11:65 ET at 111.94 mph against my 13:36 ET. --------------------------------------------------- I hosted the event and all profits were going to a local charity group from the area. We had 11 clubs participating in the event. We did touring laps on the 1.8 mile road course from 8 to 11 (and had a 15 min Exhibition side by side road race by some of the drivers from the Grand Bayou Series). We had somewhere around 1,000 people at the event (650 paid, 140 racers and kids under 13 were Free). And, there were lots of kids. Our local charity was the Assumption Parish Relay for Life and American Cancer Society. When all done the charity will clear between $5 & $6 thousand through gate receipts, food sales & raffle for custom air brush painting of helmet. A fun day for us and very good day for a good cause. My Thanks to all who participated or contributed by just coming out to watch.----------------------------- I also need to Thank No Problem Raceway (Pat Joffrion owner) for letting us use the track and arranging for the profits and food sales to go to the charity. Thanks also to the Relay for Life teams. Maybe we'll make this an Annual Event.

Here's Mike after his World Record setting run in his Blue Stroker motor using a 150 shot NOS. This was on Sunday, Feb. 29th at No Problem Raceway in Belle Rose, LA at the Mopar vx Corvette Club Challenge. The motor was built by Norm Brandes of WestTec Austomotive in WI. This was the first run on the motor. Mike had just received the car on Friday, Feb. 27th.

Mike's Blue Stroker... World Record Fastest Prowler at 11:65 ET.

Mike holding up the time slip. I ran Mike in this with my Paxton Lo boost Prowler and ran at 13:36 in that pass. My best time of the day was a 12:99.

Mike's Hi Boy. I ran against Mike and I beat the Hi Boy with a 13:36 ET against the Hi Boy's 13:69 ET. I kept waiting for the Hi Boy to come around me and it never did. Mike said the NOS failed to come on...

Here's my Red Prowler with Lo Boost Paxton supercharger. I made four runs on Sunday. In my first run I was able to line up against a Red C5 Vette. I blew it away. Beat it by 1.3 seconds. I ran a 12:99 at 105..18 mph (my best time of the day) against the Vette's 13:637 at 110.99 mph. Add about a .7 RT jump out the hole and a full 1.3 second win... I made my two first passes with the lower bra on.

My four Time Slips from Sunday. 1st pass beat the C5 Vette my ET 12:99 against Vette 13:637. 2nd pass I ran a 13:36 at 101.6 mph and beat Mike in the HI Boy with a 13:69 at 106.2 mph. 3rd pass I ran 13: 36 at 101.9 against Mike in the Blue Stroker with a 11:65 ET at 111.9 mph. This was the World Record setting run by Mike for a Prowler. 4th pass was Round 1 of the Bracket Racing Elimination's. I ran in the 13:99 & under class. I dialed in a 13:05 and ran a 13:03 against Rusty's C4 Vette (heavily modified) with a Dial in of 12:50 and he ran a 12:498. Rusty got the win because I Red Lighted by .004 seconds. His RT was a .044. I knew I would need a good RT to beat Rusty he's good racer. Rusty ended up winning the 13:99 & under class.

Some of the crowd. I estimate we had 1,000 people at the race. 650 paid, 140 racers (either road course touring laps or drag racing). And, kids under 13 were free. And, there were lots of kids. So, 1,000 seems to be good estimate.

Cooling the Kats before the Elimination Runs...

My last two runs on Sunday were without the lower Bra on the car to try out the ram air box from Real Rod. I was able to get some cool air in after the motor was hot running with water temp gauge at 1/2 mark. My son Beau ran the Ram Diesel truck. His best time was an 16:91 and he made four runs... He lost out in close race during 1st round of Elimination's in the 14:00 & above class...

Some cars out by and on the 1.8 mile road course in the morning. We ran touring laps up to 70 mph. We had three sets of five cars with each group led by a pace car. This was another fun time by all the attendees...
