| Saturday Oct. 7, 2000. Well, the rain stopped and we had a littlecooler temperature (70s) with a brisk breeze…. So, were off the Dragstrip for the 10:00 opening. Cliff & Ladonna (LA Black) Prowler, Vinnie(my nephew) Saleen Mustang, Steven (MS Purple 97) Prowler, Billy(PT), Beau (PT), Gwen (PT) for some racing. Steven (97 Purple Prowler)came by and I didn’t get to run against their camaro. Jesse & Sally,Bobby & Stephanie, Jerry & Rachel came by to take in some of the action.Jerry captured quite a bit of the racing on video.Ladonna (Cliff’s wife) has the fastest time I’ve seen for stock Prowler(only mod is straight pipes in place of muffler). After the race Cliffturned the keys over to Ladonna & she did all the cruising for the restof the day.Best times at Gulfport Raceway …Laddie Paxton Prowler - 13.6Cliff Stock Prowler -- 15.1Ladonna Stock Prowler -- 15.0Vinnie Saleen -- 14.0Beau Stock PT -- 18.7Gwen K&N cone filter PT -- 19.0Billy K&N, Flowmaster muffler PT -- 18.6Laddie Stock PT -- 18.7I had two 13.6s and one 14.0 in the one head to head with a Viper (gotbeat 12.3 vs. my 14.0). I did one other run against my nephew and had a15.0. I was flying out of the shoot and than the Rev-limiter kickedin. When I looked at the shifter, it was in A/S. So, I slipped it intodrive & continued down the track & he beat me with a 14.4 vs. my 15.0.I guess I was too busy telling everyone else how to drive (I didn’t knowI had it in A/S). This was the first time on the track for Cliff,Ladonna, Vinnie, & Billy. Of course it was only the 2nd or 3rd time forthe rest of us. We had a blast and according to the announcer this wasthe first time they had seen Prowlers or PTs on the track. Everyone hadfun …I was getting a lot of pressure & hints (from my wife & kids) thateverybody was getting hungry. So, off we went cruisin to the Cabin forsome BBQ. We than cruised to Bay St. Louis for the afternoon festival.Nighttime, we were back at the Grand in Gulfport for the cruise night,music, flame throwing exhibition & Neil Sedacka concert at 9:00. Sidney& Adele joined us on Saturday night. After the concert, some of us wereoff to try our luck in the casinos…Here’s a few pics … |
