Well, we set a new Louisiana record for largest gathering of Prowlers and Vipers. On Saturday, July 27th we had 29 cars on display at Causeway Chrysler in Covington, LA. We had a group display of 17 Vipers, 9 Prowlers, 1 PT Cruiser, 1 Durango & 1 66 Plymouth Hemi Satelite ... Actually, if we count the two Vipers in showroom, there were 19 Vipers & 31 total cars. What a site and a terrific group of owners.
Causeway Chrysler had cleared their inventory & we parked all the cars across the front lot of the dealership. Most of the Viper owners were from Louisiana. Three of the Viper owners came all the way down from Arkansas to meet with the South Louisiana Bayou group and Jerry came over from Mississippi. Joe Vick came in from Ft. Worth, TX and had shirts, bags and some other goodies for sale. It was a pleasure to meet the new Viper owners who we hadn't met before & also nice to meet a few Prowler owners in person for the first time... We had Jambalaya & soda provided by Causeway Chrysler (Thanks for the hospitality). Bret Byus (local rep from the Chrysler Zone office) was there to answer questions and provide assistance. Our local Chrysler Tech Larry Tauzin stopped by & had to perform a couple of checks on two Vipers (Thanks Larry for taking the time to help out a couple of owners).
After the display & lunch we took some scenic back roads to Manchac, LA & had some of the World famous thin fried catfish at Middendorf's... Someone told me the view from the rear of the multicolored Kats & Snakes cruising down Hwy. 22 was awesome. On our Prowler & Viper cruise we took the scenic drive from Convington to Manchac, LA. Well, we had to go through Ponchatoula, LA... The 25 or so Prowlers & Vipers had to make a left turn from Hwy. 22 onto Hwy. 51. I was leading the pack & there was a lot of traffic. We only got three cars through the first light. Well, along comes a motorcycle cop. He sees this string of multicolored Kats & Snakes and he decides to block the intersection & lets the whole caravan through... Now, this was unexpected, unplanned & really appreciated... A big THANK YOU to the Ponchatoula Police Department... Just goes to show you - nice things can happen when you're driving Prowlers & Vipers in a caravan....
After Middendorf's we split up & went in different directions... Some went to Elmwood cruise night, others headed home & a couple of us headed to the Big Easy Mopar Crab Boil....
Now, we'll be getting ready for ...
