Bayou Viper / Prowler Cruise July 27th 2002
2002-07-27
Well, we set a new Louisiana record for largest gathering of Prowlers and Vipers. On Saturday, July 27th we had 29 cars on display at Causeway Chrysler in Covington, LA. We had a group display of 17 Vipers, 9 Prowlers, 1 PT Cruiser, 1 Durango & 1 66 Plymouth Hemi Satelite ... Actually, if we count the two Vipers in showroom, there were 19 Vipers & 31 total cars. What a site and a terrific group of owners. Causeway Chrysler had cleared their inventory & we parked all the cars across the front lot of the dealership. Most of the Viper owners were from Louisiana. Three of the Viper owners came all the way down from Arkansas to meet with the South Louisiana Bayou group and Jerry came over from Mississippi. Joe Vick came in from Ft. Worth, TX and had shirts, bags and some other goodies for sale. It was a pleasure to meet the new Viper owners who we hadn't met before & also nice to meet a few Prowler owners in person for the first time... We had Jambalaya & soda provided by Causeway Chrysler (Thanks for the hospitality). Bret Byus (local rep from the Chrysler Zone office) was there to answer questions and provide assistance. Our local Chrysler Tech Larry Tauzin stopped by & had to perform a couple of checks on two Vipers (Thanks Larry for taking the time to help out a couple of owners). After the display & lunch we took some scenic back roads to Manchac, LA & had some of the World famous thin fried catfish at Middendorf's... Someone told me the view from the rear of the multicolored Kats & Snakes cruising down Hwy. 22 was awesome. On our Prowler & Viper cruise we took the scenic drive from Convington to Manchac, LA. Well, we had to go through Ponchatoula, LA... The 25 or so Prowlers & Vipers had to make a left turn from Hwy. 22 onto Hwy. 51. I was leading the pack & there was a lot of traffic. We only got three cars through the first light. Well, along comes a motorcycle cop. He sees this string of multicolored Kats & Snakes and he decides to block the intersection & lets the whole caravan through... Now, this was unexpected, unplanned & really appreciated... A big THANK YOU to the Ponchatoula Police Department... Just goes to show you - nice things can happen when you're driving Prowlers & Vipers in a caravan.... After Middendorf's we split up & went in different directions... Some went to Elmwood cruise night, others headed home & a couple of us headed to the Big Easy Mopar Crab Boil.... Now, we'll be getting ready for ... Cruisin the Coast Wednesday Oct. 9th to Sunday Oct. 13th along the MS Gulf Coast The 2nd Annual Prowler Drags Friday, Oct. 11th at No Problem Raceway in Belle Rose, LA The Viper vs Corvette Challenge Drags at No Problem Raceway Saturday night Oct. 19th in Belle Rose, LA The following Louisiana Prowler owners were there... 1) Al & Darlene Guichet - Purple Covington, LA 2) David Caroon - Blue - Mandeville, LA 3) Ken Owens. - Red - Baton Rouge, LA 4) Karen Roussel - Yellow - Mandeville, LA 5) Laddie Roussel - Red - Mandeville, LA 6) Nick & Scott Latino - Yellow Metarie, LA 7) Jude Fortuntino - Yellow - Folsum, LA 8) Perry Barris - Orange - Gretna, LA 9) Ray & QuincyVinson - Red - Baton Rouge, LA 10) Randy Howes - Silver - Kentwood, LA (was there with his Viper) PT Owner Jerry & Rachel LeBlanc - Red - Bay St. Louis, MS Durango Owner Paul & Cheryl Wertz - Blue - Covington, LA

Perry's Center Cap fix. Check out the screw in the center cap... This fix has been installed for about a month & no problem with chrome... Not very noticeable... You could always put a sticker or decal over the screw head...

Perry & his Orange Speaker box... He made this himself & looks way cool... He had several request for similiar boxes. Now, he just has to decide if he wants to make more...

Speaker Box made from Fiberglass. He modified the top release arm by eliminating the pull arm lever & installing two pull strings to release top from Deck lid...

Perry's custom Tranny Cover... And, I think there were a couple of request for additional covers...
