Sears Point Wine Classic Vintage Cruise
2002-05-30
Sears Point Raceway, Sonoma California Wine Classic Vintage Races Pre raceday cruise. We enjoyed a good turnout for this event considering it was Thursday. In attendance were 13 Prowlers and 1 Viper. Linda Johnson and her husband Al Collins, of Healdsburg, Ca. had a pretty full day scheduled for us. We started the day at at Sears Point Raceway where we met and had coffee and donuts provided by our host, Melvin Record,(Sears Point Marketing Director). From there we cruised over to Mario Andretti's Napa County Winery where we enjoyed tasting some of his great wine and recieved souvenir wine glasses. We then hit the road to Oakville and traversed the steep and winding Oakville Grade through some beautiful redwood trees with fantastic views Of Napa Valley and the Sonoma Valley of the Moon. For lunch we stopped at the General's Daughter, a fine Restaurant on the outskirts of Sonoma, Ca. After lunch it was into Sonoma's town square and cheese tasting at the Sonoma Cheese factory. Then to top off the day we traveled back to Sears Point where we were fortunate enough to be allowed 3 laps around the racetrack. After the second lap we were allowed to stop and let the passengers have a lap. What a great day!!
