Woodward - Contributed by Laddie
2000-08-19
The best way to describe the "Woodward Dream Cruise" - It&s like aMardri Gras Parade with cars... The paper this morning estimated thecrowd at 1.4 million yesterday along the nine mile stretch on WoodwardAv. (8 lanes 4 on each side) and around 30,000 classic cars... We madethree cruises down the Woodward. The first was early in the morning (theentire stretch to host spot Bo&s brewery & bistro). We than may twosmall cruise into the stop, stop & go cruises & than may U turns & backto Bo&s. One person may the entire trip at 1:00 and it took him 5 & 1/2hours....I&ve never seen so many cars... I&ve never seen so many Corvettes. Itwould have to match Labor Day at Bowling Green... We had many PTCruisers (but not like Thursday night all together). So many classiccars, hot rods, you name it... And, besides cruising, they park classiccars all along the route and the crowds are similar to our Mardri Grasparades (except no beads). We had 38 Prowlers yesterday afternoon. On one of our cruises we hadProwlers four wide cruising down Woodward.... What a rush & the crowdreaction was amazing... I&m always amazed at the reaction these carsbring...The two new Prowlers are in here (Black Tie) & (Sparkle Orange). TheOrange is one of two built so far for testing. I did a littledevelopment work and took my Chrome grill and put it on the Orange...Our two Chrysler hosts loved it...More later. We&re heading back today. Stopping in Bowling Green, KY.tonight. And, hopefully, we&ll be back in Louisiana late Monday or earlyTuesday... laddie...Mike, we&ve had a terrific time... I forgot to mention in my pics thatis Dr. Ru who does the Woodward&s & Black Tie pin striping... laddie...
