Hi all, I have been dormant in all the snow, time to start thinking what to do for year 2 of my prowler. Has anyone painted the stock black inserts in the door panel? I am tempted to buy some from another website, would rather try on my own to save $ for other things I want to update. Same question for painting the bezel using the alsa corp spray chrome. It looks pretty impressive in the video. Might even try a little on my one rim that has a little flaking... |

There are several people here including myself that have cars with the aftermarket TGF door panel inserts that have been painted in many different ways. If you do a search using the terms "door panel insert" or other similar combinations, I expect you will find some photo's of painted door panel inserts. |

quote: I have them, not sure where my pictures are of them. they are painted to match my car Here is a picture of another yellow car with the inserts I would not paint the door panel. The insert is the way to go if they are still available as far as the spray chrome, I have heard of some trying to use it, but have not heard of any quality results ------------------ |

From what I have seen the spray chrome takes someone with lots of painting experience to get good results. Door inserts are the way to go. This message has been edited by BeWare on 02-19-2010 at 10:33 AM |

pay the exta bucks and have them pro painted, you wont be sorry.if youve never painted base clear, let a pro do it.the materials alone will cost you more than you think.will cost you about a 100.00 in mat.a shop should do the job for no more than 150.00. ------------------ This message has been edited by catfish on 02-19-2010 at 12:36 PM |

I will do solid car matching color base/clear/wetsand & buff for $80 plus any shipping costs. Although I don't know what you mean by stock inserts. There are no "stock" inserts. There are only aftermarket unless you are referring to the door panel itself. This message has been edited by MDProwler on 02-19-2010 at 03:10 PM |

Another option to chrome paint is to go with the real deal chrome. I had my door panel inserts and radio bezel metal triple plated. There aren't a lot of chromers that will do plastic/fiberglass parts. The results are great and will last. [img] |

Wow, some great looking panels and really impressed with the chrome ones as well. I dont have a paint theme to my car, just plain old red (and happy!), so might just go with getting them painted red. Thanks so much for the inspiration! |

Just got mine back from being painted today... The pictures don't do it justice, they don't show the depth or the many colors he used in the flames.. This message has been edited by xtreme prowler on 03-03-2010 at 06:50 PM |

quote: John, Are you speaking of the door handles and bezels or the "triangle" relief that is embossed into the door panel itself? If you are talking about the triangle shaped piece, that is a part of the door skin and I agree with what Larry said If you are talking about the door handle pulls and releases and vent bezels, they can be painted (by MDProwler - Gary for example) or what I did was use a sheet of vinyl that is used for vector cut signs/auto decals and apply it directly to those pieces. Everyone thinks they are painted and I can always change it out if I want something new or if they get damaged. I was going to paint a new set originally, but we couldn't figure out at the time how to get the vents out without damaging the dash. WildBill |
