OK to those that did not get parts shipped this week I am sorry I have been in the shop non stop getting this done since the guy building it for me could not listen to instructions and my body shop guy has the flu. I am taking this over for final fit monday and then off to molds. Do not pay any attention to the edges as the part needs to be left long for production molds and spraying and when sprayed they are trimmed back and will have flowing curves. Also the speaker grates are stuck to the surface, in the production piece they will be glued in from the underside, I just put them on for a visual and they may change shape slightly on the final part. You can order this with the speaker openings where I have them or you can order it with no holes and cut your own in for custom installations. Now that you see the part how many are ready to order? Please post here even if you posted on another thread. To crank these out fast and get as many done before he shuts down those people that order ASAP with a $250 deposit will get $50 off the final price and be put on the list in order received and parts will be shipped in the same order the list is made. List (** indicates I have all your address and payment info ) ------------------ This message has been edited by Bob Goetz on 03-24-2005 at 06:01 PM |

OK to answer a couple questions. 1. Final Cost will be determined when: I kind of know from the past what these costs will run, and I guess you will all have to trust me on this. I think un=painted will run around $500 to $550 and Painted $650 to $700 if the final cost is more than my high estimate the people who place a deposit will not pay any more than the high estimate. 2. Deposit due: When I do the final fit monday and it all checks out I need to run it over to the body shop for a professionals final touch, he is aware of how urgent it is and has told me if I have it to him by 3 PM he will have it ready for me Tuesday at noon. I will then run it over to the fiberglass mold maker and he also knows I need it done fast and I have offered to pay him cash when it is done thus the reason for a deposit, he said he will hammer out the mold in 5 days, once I have a production piece I need to cut the speaker openings in it and return it to the mold maker to make the trim jigs, he said he can have them about 70% done with out having the part with the holes so he would only need a couple of days. I then need to take a production part while he is doing trim jigs and go to my box supplier with a part wrapped up for shipping and have carton dimensions done and boxed made ( 5 to 7 days ) along with some sort of filler to place in the U shaped cavity to support it during shipping to minimize freight damage. When I have a production part with the speaker holes cut in it I need to take it to the machine shop to make dies to press out the grills that will take 5 days. I need to make the grills and then have them Powder Coated and that will take 3 to 5 days. I know this is a long explanation but just wanted everyone to know the part just does no magically appear. So deposits will be charged when the mold maker has the plug in his hand and starts making the mold I am thinking Wednesday March 16th. If everything goes well I should be able to ship un-paint parts the week of 4-11 and painted the week of 4-18. 3. Trey, the cover in the photo is the way the openings will appear on the first run with the only change the grills will be glued in from the back side. I think since I made this plug by leaving the the stock cover on I can cut the openings for the speakers on the top edge out and then for the round bass speaker as 2/3 of it falls in the raised edge I will need to have a fiberglass round ring made and attach it from the backside and fill the seam on the front, I am sure I can do this but that part will be sometime down the road after I get the part in its current shape done. ------------------ |

Bob... I would like one too. However, with all of the rounded curves of the Prowler, I am curious about the rectangular grills on both sides. I assume those are for the factory sub but what made you decide on that shape? |

The 2 rectangular grates are to make the part symmetrical, the round bass speaker is in the raised curved section of the panel and in my eyes it did not look right. For stereo guys please back me up here bass does not care where it comes out it takes the path of least resistance by placing not 1 but two grates the bass should not be affected. I will as I said make a change to the panel where the stock locations are in place but not on the first run I will have the panel as you see it, also a panel you can cut your own openings into and in the near future a panel that just slides over exposing the stock speaker grates. I am trying to make the R&D cost cover as many applications as possible. ------------------ This message has been edited by Bob Goetz on 03-13-2005 at 05:16 PM |

What is the size of the subwoofer? What is the cubic air volume requirements? I am assuming this is a sealed box, what is the internal air volume? Where is the sub exactly? Can you put up some more detailed photos? Is this a cover that will go over a new box? This message has been edited by mcrealty on 03-13-2005 at 05:24 PM |

This cover is for the stock set up, I want use this cover on a upgraded system I hope in the near future that is why I made the raised section as large as I could with out it looking like **** but I think the cover will have a larger center opening for the bass in the upgraded system and I think with this cover and a new speaker enclosure I can gain 1 cubic foot of space. The guy doing the upgrade for me WAS and I say WAS the guy making this cover for me, after 6 trips to his shop I gave up , paid him for the pan section of this and took it to my shop and finished it. I have tried to make a part that will work for the majority of the owners and offer it at a fair price. ------------------ |

As the stock box use a band pass enclosure you may actually interfere with the quality of sound by adding an additional road block in front the port. |

Looks great Bob! Large speaker opening in the center leaves no room for a mural, so it looks great the way it is... One suggestion...what do you think of removing the grill covers from the sub woofer slots and put gill-slits or louvers instead? that would look cool...or a chrome trim ring around the open sub woofer slot? That would put it over the top.. BTW: Your panel is boxed and will be out the door tomorrow. Hope you liked the last pics... :D ------------------ |
