Hello Prowler owners and cruising friends! Our February event will be held on Sunday, February 15th, 2004 and will include a morning breakfast gathering followed by a cruise to Phoenix South Mountain Park and a catavan to the Dobbins Point Lookout on South Mountain. MEETING LOCATION: We will be meeting at 8:00am at the Denny's restaurant at the southwest corner of the 202 freeway and Scottsdale Road in Tempe [650 North Scottsdale Rd]. This Denny's location is right next to the 202 freeway - first driveway off the freeway on the southside, and is also the entrance to the Tempe Best Western Hotel. If you are planning on eating breakfast or just having juice, coffee, and a Danish, please email me with the number of persons that will be attending with you. The restaurant would appreciate an advance appox. count, to better serve us. If you are planning on attending but do not wish to attend the breakfast portion, please be at the Denny's parking lot by 9:00am for our 9:15am departure from this location. CRUISE ROUTE: Depart the Tempe Denny's location at 9:15am, heading south on Scottsdale Rd. to Rio Salado Parkway west, right turn. Rio Salado Parkway west along Tempe Town Lake to Preist Rd, right turn, over the 202 freeway, then turning left onto the 202 westbound on ramp. From the 202 westbound, we will merge onto the I-10 westbound, staying in the right lanes. Exit I-10 on the 7th Street exit ramp, but stay in the left lanes for a left turn merge onto 7th Street southbound. Stay on 7th Street southbound until reaching Baseline Road, then a right turn going west to Central Ave. where we will make a left turn and continue south on Central into the South Mountain Park entrance. The park road to Dobbins Point Lookout is paved with many sharp curves and a quick altitude change. PLEASE drive carefully to the top and be on the lookout for bicycle riders along the roadway. We hopefully will park in the parking lot at the top and enjoy the view of metro Phoenix from above. We will spend appox. 90 minutes on South Mountain, so this event should end at appox. 12:00pm. You are free to leave at anytime if you have other afternoon activities planned. This is a WEATHER PERMITTING event.
