Is full synthetic ok and what weight and brand do people recomend when changing the oil?

thing rides worse than a jeep wrangler but i heard a brace across the front helps. i see that people use an aluminum square tubing but aluminum flexes too. So i want to try a steel L-shaped rod. Is this a bad idea? I figured steel would flex even less and be that much better?

Recall info. I have the info but who can i call to see if any of the service's have been performed already? Do i just call a crysler dealer? Is it free? it was built 11-98.

I still run regular Oil - only have 1000 miles on the car. I understand that synthetic leaks after a period of time - still asking people lots of questions who use it as I will change the Oil soon and need to make a decision.

As I understand it, 99's do ride worse than the 2000 and up due to a suspension change. My 2001's ride is not bad. Also I understand that the Dunlop tires make a huge difference.

There are lots of posts about the brace and it's effects on the ride/handling on the board. Do a search and you will see lot's of info on this subject on the board.

congrads on the Cat. The recall for frame problem was all red cars built in the summer of `99 I believe

I use Quaker state oil but wanted heavier oil (10/30)than their synthtic, so I went with a blend 20w50. The 3.5 engines have a problem with start up tick and I wanted to see if it helped. It didn't help but it held the oil pressure higher when idling in traffic on hot day with air on. I will continue to use it.

Yes the riide on `99 is rough. They changed the tire compound, spring rate and ride height on the 2000's due to complaints from owners of the earlier models. I have a `99 and have driven a 2000, it is a noticable difference. To improve many have changed to the NON RUN FLAT Dunlop tires. The brace is suppose to improve ride and handling but, I have not done this and doubt I will. I can see it take out some of the cowl shake but it greatly improving the ride, I don't see how making the frame stiffer can make the side walls on the tires softer. Consider that you can drill a hole in the tire and then drive 50 miles @ 50 mph, this is where most of the harsh ride comes from. It is one of the most AWESUM cars built, did you buy it for the ride or for the pleasure of owning one of the COOLEST CARS BUILT?

If you use use 6061 aluminum for the cross brace you won't find it flexing like some softer aluminum might, don't be surprised if you don't find that big of a improvement after the install, here's a post I had about the upper brace http://www.prowleronline.com/ubb/Forum1/HTML/005756.html .

You might check out the classified section for a set of 2000 or newer "softer" run flats. This might help the ride a little.
