It was yesterday. By the time I arrived at home after "pulling-a-nooner" from the office it was raining. Nyle Wing called me from his car and he was on his way there already. We'll have to hear what he has to say about it. The streets were wet around me for a couple of hours and then I did have a 4:00 meeting so when it dried up it was to late for me to go. However, all was not lost having taken off work for the afternoon. When I arrived at home my RealRod RR pan was waiting for me on the porch. Being rained-in wasn't so bad when you have a project like this to work on. Installation took about 4 hours plus another hour re-shiming. The instructions say to use the existing shims. They were all wrong for the shape of the new panel. I re-arranged the shims a few time to get it to match the adjacent panels. |

Hi Bob glad you got the part and its on, sorry about the shim's but that is why I have decided to not make anymore of that pan the mold and cutting jigs are worn out and I do not feel I can recoupe spending another $4000 to build new one's. SO you got the last one! That is unless I can get 18 people who want them? |

Bob Goetz, So the last RealRod roadster pan was in the first prowler color,,,PURPLE. Even though you say the mold is warn out, the panel was top quality and exceeded my expectations. The paint matched perfectly. The shine was glass smooth like the rest of my car. I'm very happy with it. Even panels coming out of the same die or mold need to be shimmed differently. I sort of said to myself when I read that in the instructions "these shims won't be right even if he used DC's mold". |
