One more thing, these cars have the Carlini Borla Exhaust, when I first picked up my Kat with this modification I could tell right away I lost some bottom end but I gained alot of top end Power and the times show it. 0-60...ET...MPH, Yes I did all 1/4 miles too This is the 2000, with 18700 miles on it. AND HAS THE MAC INTAKE. OK, we throw out the best and worst and then average. 0-60......ET.......MPH BTW, All Done in Drive. 1000 feet Remember this 1999 also has the Carlini Borla Exhaust with no other modifications. 0-60...ET...MPH 5.92 14.63 95.7 It hated the 2-3 shift The 1999 shifts softer than the 2000. 0-60......ET......MPH I just realized the my driver license is expired!

Nyle - the 99 won because: 1 - 10 lbs more air press. in tires of 2000 2 - he ate lunch before 2000 run, and weighed 1.25 lbs more 3 - 104 octane in 99, 83 octane in 2000 4 - split kneecap open on last past in 2000, which would have been 14.51 ET 5 - You win! 99 rules, this time. Have a great holiday! Thanks for the fun Gary. ------------------ |

Gary, Even your SLOWEST 2000 1/4 mile is a 1/2 faster than I ran at the track. I too ran in drive and the best I could muster was a 15.29. Although, I think it was 85 degrees when I did it. According to the calcs, that can make a HUGE difference. I'm anxious for this spring when I and hopefully many others will be headed BACK to the track and posting times. Thanks for the info. ------------------ |

If it was 10 degrees cooler yesterday that would have changed the relative altitude from 560 above sea level to -169 feet below sea level. The best run for a Carlini Borla exhaust was George C 15.02, Phoenix middle of summer, Power Tour, way over 110 and at a very sticky drag strip. I bet if I went to Pomona with the exact or even close conditions the Kats would have been 3-5 tenths slower because the track is very sticky. I was talking to Dear Old Laddie(he is a great person BTW) and told him if he is running at a Drag strip and needs the traction for the line launch line up in the middle then head to the center line where the marbles are and less traction soooooo the car will not bog down in the sticky stuff. You will always go faster on the street than the strip because of the tacky conditions. Unless you need the traction for the launch. This message has been edited by Gary C on 12-23-2000 at 07:02 PM |

I have never timed 0-60, but my best ET has been 13.0312 and my best speed was 106.7501. I think mine will/should run better, I was using 94 octane gas, and could have advanced the timing with 100 octane. I have Paxton 1000 upgraded, Pro Prowler gears, and Borla Exhaust with X Pipe. Laddie has turned in the high 12's ET with the same equipment I have except he Paxton has not been upgraded |

My 99' has a better bottom end then my 00', you can feel it. Today I had an opportunity to run the two side by side and I was right the 99' is quicker. Both are stock, same gas, same amount of gas. ------------------ |

I think one of the important differences is the stock exhaust manifold was changed to essentially a 300M model. The Prowler specific manifold looks and breathes better. |

I don't think Laddies Paxton has the upgraded smaller pulley for more power. ------------------ |

Gary C. is correct. All I have is the Paxton (low boost setup - 5 to 6lbs) & Prowler Pro gears... I do modify the air box to get more boost when I run on the track. I have two 2" straight pipes in place of muffler. However, I do have the stock cat converters & stock tailpipe tips with baffles installed. And, I do have a modified Torque Converter (but not sure that does much & not worth the cost to get it installed). ------------------ |
