I wrote before about one of my head lights that kept going out.

Having Cool looking APC XENON Plasma Super Whites (100 watt).

I decided the socket was toasted a bit and stepped down to the Ultra Whites (65 watts), that I thought were working fine. Not!

After a recent road trip one light was out again. The bulb is fine but the socket is so toasted it has started to crumble apart and the electrical tape (insulation) is all shriveled up too!

I was able to buy replacement pigtails to make a decent repair and will go back to stock lamps for awhile.

I have learned that APC makes a heavy duty wiring harness that is suppose to "plug-in" to the stock unit and I am investigating its application further.

So again, a word of caution about these not so "Cool" looking lights.

Has any one else had this problem with PIAA's or any other brand?

Thanks, jc

I have the Sylvania Cool Blue Xenon bulbs. Xenon runs cooler than halogen. Is it the brand that you are using?

My brand name of lights was "APC", Automotive Products Company. They are a xenon plasma bulb.

I think that the 100 watters did most of the damage to the socket, but leery of the 65 watters too. I put those in the high beams and stockers back in the low beams.

Does anyone know thw stock wattage? Mine say H3 on them.

Also I discovered that the wiring harness for the high and low beams are a pigtail assembly (about two feet long) and I just replaced the whole pigtail vs. splicing in a replacement socket.

Good as New! It was 81' here today! Top down, shades on, and cruising! jc

Sasy, went to the site you linked in here and those lamps are Halogen not Xenon. I was ready to buy them but wondered why they were so cheap. The PIAA Super White Xenon bulbs run about $75.00 a pair at several shops I have checked down here. They are 100 Watt bulbs and they tell me they have, so far, had no reports of them melting anything... The tech at one of the places says he has had them in his car for over a year and no problems...

I do wonder why at three different sites they list the 97-99 Prowler as having a 9006 for Low beam and a 9005 for High beam?? I've had mine out and they are both the 9005's??
Is anybody's two different numbers?

Fred ...

Listed that way because it is listed that way in owners manual -- manufacturers get their info from the car producer. I purchased my PIAA's according to the book and the PIAA web site also and had to exchange one pair ... go figure!

For 2000 Prowler, The Plymouth Mopar wiring harness number is #04815282 17778H

Note: this is a Mopar # from your dealer, not an APC #.

Also has the numbers #282 H on it.

Works on either side and plugs in at the side marker light. I removed the front side panel for easy access.
