Well guys...today is a very sad day for my kat......i...went to put it up on the lift b/c i had a clip that holds the lower side panel to the frame come loose so i figured id tighten it back on....but....i set the lift up underneath the car...and....i knew i had clearance on everything on the body...so i slowly let the lift up and stop it just after it touched the frame on the car to check it all out....and...when i went around to the drivers side of the car.....somehow....a little corner of the lift pad had caught the edge of the body under the engine removable panel and had bent it under the car....i ran around and set the lift back down.... After taking some close looking at it.....it cracked it about 4 inches across...but not flaking paint or anything yet.....but....i figure.....i have a body guy next door to me who can probably just take that panel off and and bondo the crack and repaint it....but...for now.....im gonna try to just touch it up to get by until he has the time.......on the brighter side though......i ordered a bottle of touch up paint for only $4.50 and the parts guy said it only be like 2 days to get it.....better than waiting a few months like ive heard from some others.....at least....from lookin at it....the panel isnt too hard to get off except where it attaches to the headlight bezel......soo....hopefully....the paint cost wont kill me and ill be able to get this fixed.......sighs....this is a very sad day in my life...and in my kats......... ------------------ !!++Youngest Driving Prowler Owner++!! -Amsoil Engine and Tranny Fluid |

DAM!!! what a bummer, I absolutely hate it when I do stupid things like that (been there too often!). But, somehow things always work out... look on the bright side. At least you HAVE a KAT! ------------------ |

Fortknox, Are you sure you want to use body filler to make the repairs? What is the cost of the panel itself? If you choose the former than what is the advantage of removing the panel off the car?......because the painter will probably have to blend into the adjacent panels to get the paint to match anyway. Sorry for your misfortune, and good luck on the repairs. |

Well...i think the body filler will be a much better approach b/c it will cost me nothing and will look exactly the same.....and as for buying a new panel....from what ive seen and heard.....it doesnt matter what panel it is...it is garunteed that it will be at least $1000 to replace...so i have a decision....$100...or...$1000......hmm.....ill go with the $100....at least in that range anyway.... But, i think i am going to take it off b/c since the paint is newand this is a lower section of the body.....if there was a slight color mismatch...it wouldnt be noticed very much if at all....the body guy that does the work will do it right...and if he wants to blend it with the rest of the car....he will tell me....but thanks for the suggestions..... I also found out too that....you cant get this color from the normal paint mixer guy....im gonna have to order it from chrysler.....i hope to god that it doesnt kill me with the price...... ------------------ !!++Youngest Driving Prowler Owner++!! -Amsoil Engine and Tranny Fluid |

I do have full coverage insurance but i dont think they will pay for it....hmmmm.....you might have something going here.....b/c.....i only have like a $50 deductible.....but the thing is.....if i did claim it on my insurance....would my insurance go up....b/c....im sure i could come up with some story about what happened......but i really cant afford to have to pay more for my insurance....since it is already high....hmmmm...i think i will look into it......see how much it would cost me to fix it....then see how much the body shop would charge.....and then....see what would happen if i did claim it.....thanks for the thought Todd.... ------------------ !!++Youngest Driving Prowler Owner++!! -Amsoil Engine and Tranny Fluid |

Jason ... Also, as far as color goes ... unless things have changed ... PPG was the paint supplier of choice back in '99 when I repainted my Prowler Go-Kart to match exactly my actual Kat. I did NOT have to go through Chrysler/Plymouth then, but used my normal and customary body shop who purchsed it through his normal PPG supplier. Again ... do your research and i will help you from getting the shaft by paying too much from a dealer. I know what it is like t have toys AND a budget too. Good luck with the repair. ------------------ |

PPG has a formula for the paint for your Orange Prowler. If your local PPG dealer can't find it let me know and I will get you the formula. |

If the body panel is indeed cracked and or split, body filler will not make a perminent repair |
