A gent in the Dallas area has indicated he wants to buy my Candy Red. He is looking for the most cost effective method to get the car to Texas.
I told him the POA held a rally in the Dallas area a couple of years ago and so someone who participated may know a hauler with reasonable prices. I live in Virginia so its about 1200 miles or thereabouts.

Appreciate a shout back if anyone can help.
Thanks.

Tiny,

with the price of fuel today the days of "reasonable prices" are in the past ..i ship about 400 cars a year for work and the rates are out of control($1.00 A mile is the going rate)...the most cost effective way is for him to fly and drive it home... someone here may have a hook up you never know...

Tiny, Sandy is in VA this week with her mom. She can drive it to Cincy, since she rode to VA with her mom. Once we get it here, we can figure out how to get it to Simonsez in western Indiana. He can get it to St. Louis to Rick or Rickster and so on. We can transfer it for the cost of gas. It might take a week but it will get there safe and sound in the hands of POA folks, that know how to take care of a Prowler.
I am not putting the others on the spot, there is someone on the POA every 100 miles or so that we can count on.
I am serious. If you want to try it, let me know in the next day or so.

I can drive it west half way to Indy, meet Tangled and he can take it past Indy to meet the next leg. Sandy is leaving VA on Saturday. She just passed her driving test last week so she should be qualified. lol

1450 miles(one way).....$1300..... .90 cents per mile

...I figured it would cost me around $1,000 or so to go get it and I just didn't have the time to mess with it or a place to store it in Feb...

flying...

* airfare was nearly $500. one way
* gas, $175
* hotel, at least 1 night, probably 2, @ $100. per nite...
* food, $50 for 2-3 days...
* oil change/wear and tear on the vehicle $50.

....total $975.

driving...
* 4400 miles at 20 mpg( 1 car one way, 2 cars return trip)
220 gallons @ $2.25....$500....or rent trailer for $150 and save 1/3 of gas....still nets out nearly the same...

* hotels, at least 3 nites....$300.

* food / snax... 2 people for 4 days....$100.

* oil changes / wear and tear for 2 cars upon return...$100....

still adds up to $1,000....and I do all the work....or let it be delivered in an enclosed carrier and save myself 4 days on the road for an additional $300.....weather in S.W. Colorado was sort of undependable in Feb too...

...I decided to LET IT RIDE !!!

I find it hard to believe you and Cookie could survive on $ 100 for food for four days. I would think your Twinkie bill alone would be higher than that.
I guess you did not eat at all while the car was enroute, saving all that money. lol
I agree with your reasoning, actually. Scary, huh?

Good point Ed. I couldn't understand $100.00 for food either. My guess for food would have been higher. JMO

Ed...Tangled....
Thanks for the info and offer. I'll pass it along.

BTW I've already told the prospective buyer about the POA website and how staid, boring and generally unfunny Prowler owners are...he's looking forward to the experience.
Thanks again...If I do indeed sell the Kat, I'll miss you folks...

Tiny, I talked to Sandy Monday evening and she said that is fine with her. If he wants to get it to Cincy for the price of gas, it is a go.

I payed $ 860 to ship my Prowler in a Container from Fort Lauderdale FL to Bremen, Germany and $250 for 400miles Inland freight & delivery (Bremen to FFM), incl. all taxpaper work. ( Shipping RoRo on a ferry was $590 to Europe)
In freight price in the USA is a lot higher than overseas shipping. I drove my Prowler from DC-Detroit to FTL. ( and had a great time on trip)

Condor, the prices went up recently due to the higher price of fuel here.
