alrtgThis is for information purposes only.

Recently I attempted to order a box of Original style Prowler key blanks through my supplier and was told they are no longer available. I did not believe them so I sent an inquiry to the manufacturer Strattec.

I got a reply from Strattec's Aftermarket Customer Service and the Vice President - Milwaukee Operations.

They confirmed that they are no longer selling the Prowler logo key blank (Strattec key blank part number 690220 from their 2010 catalog.)

I was given the impression that there is still some inventory left so I asked if there was any way that we could get the blanks into the hands of those that could put them to use instead of disposing of or recycling them.
I will post a reply should I get one.

alrtgReserved for further information.

Here is the follow up:

I got a few Prowler blanks from the manufacturer in today's mail but not as many as I would have liked to get.

I have been told these were sitting around in the warehouse and were the last of the blanks. I do not know how accurate that is or not but have been told there will be no more.

I sent them a confirmation that they arrived and again let them know that if more were available, I could help find folks that could use them. If I hear anything further from them I will let you know.

idiveI know all about that. I lost my Prowler key for a year once.

If you are thinking of getting any original blanks, buy them NOW before they are gone.

I got enough to meet my immediate needs but that was about it.

idiveHey, no fair! I called dibs on the first 10.
alrtgI almost missed the boat as it were and happened to contact them at the time they were cleaning up around there and disposing of old stock.

My communication prompted someone to hold the few blanks I got out from the rest being disposed of. I was lucky for once.

I have mentioned to them that I could find homes for more blanks should they run across any more in the future but would be surprised if I get any more. If I do I will keep you in mind.

idiveWOW! A woman with me on her mind... That's a first...

This is a good thing. Now that you have let everyone know, you will understand all the "blank" stares you get at the next Prowler event.

alrtgI saw these on e-bay this evening and thought I would share the information.
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Plymouth-Chrysler-Prowler-Key-Blank-New-Locksmith-/170265468996?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories

Item Number: 170265468996

Buy It Now $7.99 including shipping.

Since these are no longer being supplied by the manufacturer this price may be as low as we will see. JMO

Prowler XI am assuming these blanks are just blanks and the original keys did not contain a security chip?

That is correct, no security chip in the Prowler keys.

The only reason to purchase the original blanks would be to retain the "Kat" on the rubber head. If that is not important you can get aftermarket rubber or steel head blanks from most Locksmith locations.
