DRFosterWell, I did it! Ordered a trailer and chrome wheels for my 01 Mulholland this week. I don't know how many trailers are left, but there was at least one (mine.) Dealer said there were still 32 (now 30) wheels available.

What pushed me "over the edge" was a trip my wife and I took To Moab, Utah last week for the RodBenders car show. We entered the Prowler (1 of only 2 out of about 600 cars registered.) Had a GREAT time considering how light we had to pack. Ended up taking camp stools to sit on at the show. The other Prowler was an 02 Orange with trailer. My wife and I were both amazed at how good the car and trailer look together (we had never seen a trailer in person) or how much room they have.

When delivery of my trailer is nearer (mid-June is what the dealer said), I'll pursue Larry Lord's latch reinforcement kit and one of the upright trailer stands.

Anything else about these trailers to be concerned with? I did a search and besides the wheels, those seemed to be the major "got to have"s for it.

idivePlease tell me that when you order a trailer, that it already has wheels on it and that you were ordering some different wheels for it??!!
DRFosterIt comes with wheels. They're just not the chrome ones that match the car. Those are the ones I ordered (and soon to be unavailable.)

Bob HarderAre you sure your trailer is being shipped with silver (not chrome) wheels? I ordered mine last June, got it in October and it had chrome wheels?
FL PhilAs far as I know. All trailers come with chrome wheels, unless you ordered an unfinished one, and they are the same design as the ones on the car except they are 15" rims.

Help CJ!

sam771My trailer came with chrome wheel and center cap which is match the car, it also came with a trailer bra and rear mud flap. I did in stalled a bearing buddy on mine, I cannot find any one have narrow bearing buddy so I used a hole saw drill out both center cap to put in bearing buddy.

cnote6you should have used an adapter so you dont have to drill the centercaps. JMO
WildCatThe orininal trailers had steel wheels with silver hubcaps to look like the wheel on the car. (that is how mine came)

I understand that there are some silver wheels to match the older prowlers without chrome wheels

I would order the Bra so you can install when the trailer comes in. I would not pull the trailer without the bra.

Get the hitch and wiring for the car installed asap so you can pull the trailer right away. Careful on backing the trailer, they turn QUICKLY. once you can see the side of the trailer in the outside mirror, you will not be able to get it straightened up without pulling forward. Most people find it easier to pull thru when parking or unhook the trailer and push it in place then back the car up to it and reconnect. I have showed a few how to back their trailer, PRACTICE, PRACTICE, PRACTICE.

Check the lug nuts on the trailer. Seem some are not properly torqued.

Go ahead and get the items from Larry Lord and include the keyed alike locks for the hitch on the car and the coupler on the trailer.

Some of us have installed a handle on the coupler on the trailer to make it easier to move. I bought mine at Walmart in auto dept for about $8

To each his own, but Bearing buddies are great on boat trailers but doubt they need to be on the Prowler trailer.
Every few years the bearings might need to be repacked and you could install the bearing buddies then and remove or just remove the hubs and repack and reinstall

BeWareThis is the first time I have heard of a later model trailer coming with anything but Chrome wheels. Like WC mine came with steel wheels and silver hubcaps. I now have the silver painted wheels purchased through Mopar.
DRFosterWe'll, its back on the phone with the dealer in the morning!

I was unsure about the wheels, based on my reading of previous threads, I was under the impression that all trailers came with steel wheels and the chorme were optional. I'll have him verify the trailer comes with chrome and cancel the wheel order.

As far as "Bearing Buddies" go, I'm not convinced of their value. In looking at them, you might get some grease in the outer bearing, but not the inner. I don't think they lessen the need for repacking the bearings every so often (anually?)

Does a bra and mud-flaps come with the trailer too? Aren't they optional? Does the trailer use the same mud flaps as the car?

BeWare The Bra and Flaps do not come with the trailer. Again in my opinion only the bra is an aboslute neccessity and you should not pull the trailer much until you have one. (I think most, if not all will agree with this). The flaps are the same as the ones for the Prowler. I have never installed them on my trailer. I don't think ther are needed. (on this you will get varied opinions). The only reason I have them on my Kat is to protect the painted bumpers.
WildCatthe mud flaps on the trailer are not needed for you, BUT, Jerry Scholten (Senior Prowler engineer) told me that driving in the rain it is very helpful for the car behind you. He followed a trailer last year for many miles and from what he said makes a lot of spray behind it.

I have them, but have not installed them yet.

Chrome wheels should be standard, everything else is an option. But I would double check that it will come with chrome wheels
