quincyHi Alley Cat,
I performed your 'convertible top tear prevention tip' yesterday. (slipping 1/4" Dia. hose over the 'L-Bracket') Found the offending piece with out any problem. Later the same day I was inside the car with the top up, and noticed that there is another side to that little L-Bracket, 180 degrees opposed. Its 'twin' appears that it could also cause a tear by rubbing on the top during storage or while folding or unfolding the top. I added an additional length of tubing to this area as well. Just thought I would post here so others could prevent the potential damage as well.
OrangeMy client, Alley Cat, demands that you send him his royalty payments for using this idea. You have not only used the concept for your own, but have also infringed on my clients' good name () by using it in the title and subject of you thread.

You are hereby instructed to forward said sum of $510.00 being now owed directly to my office. This amount includes the $10 royalty and a legal fee of $500. If we do not receive payment within 10 days, we will be forced to file suit to collect all monies owed to my client.

Regards,

Orange

ALLEY CATquincy - thanks for the tip,,,,I'll check into that this weekend.

Orange isn't my regular lawyer on retainer,,,,,I use Butchchee's brother-in-law,,,Al Bendover. He is associated with the mob in NYC,,,lol.

dbudnerWhere is this fix located? Thnx!
ed monahanIf you are sitting in the car, it is directly over your head. It is where the two bows for the top come together. There are two tips on both sides that stick up, one in front of the hinge part and one behind it. A total of four. If you flip up the rear window portion of the top, it is at that hinge spot.

Gee, AC, you're going to get sued for sure now, taking credit for this repair!

Now you're plagiarizing published material. Geesh, when will it end.

Jim CThe vinyl caps are about 5/8 long and a little under 3/16 on the inner diameter...

Jim C http://www.moldeddevices.com/standard/standard.html

Now why didn't D.C. think of this?

Grrowl - don't believe their [DC's] TBS has anything to do with our findings and fix. Maybe you can get the bulletin and print that DC fix out for us? Way back when,,,,I had read of a Prowler top being torn with a "L" shape hole on the rear side. Same thing happened here locally to one of our owners. EK Kesler and I sat in that local Prowler to find out how this happened. After a half-hour of moving the top up and down, we found that the inner top material was rubbing on the described area during the folding up and down motion. NO HELP came from DC in our search to find what the problem was.

OK, I'll take a look. My dealer told me that they added the 2 caps on the top, but they were the ones over the doors. I'll bet that the TSB is for this forward pair, but I'll see what I can find (for free).

Sorry, AC, coming up dry on this one.

Dealer buddies - can you look up TSB 23-01-00?

What I remember from my dealer is that they told me that the car was delivered without the caps; it was a known problem (TSB???) and they installed the caps. These were the more forward ones (centered above the door on each side) rather than the "L" in the rear, but I'd be really interested if they were following a TSB - the most likely one being the one that's listed off the homepage.

Any help, dealer buddies?

Thanks.

I've been shown every TSB on a dealership computer for prowler...never saw one like that. Just silly ones like blaming the chrome peeling on wheel cleaners.
