Hello, I guess I haven't owned my Prowler long enough to know why one would install an EGR bypass. Excuse my ignorance but please enlighten me. |

The main purpose of the EGR is to reduce NOx emissions produced during gasoline engine combustion. EGR, Exhaust Gas Recirculation, system takes some of the exhaust gas and reintroduces it into the intake manifold. At 1600°C NOx is formed because air molecules, nitrogen N2 and Oxygen O2, react. By allowing cooled exhaust back into the intake, the combustion temperature of the engine becomes lower than the 1600°C. At idle and full throttle, the EGR valve is closed, and does not allow any exhaust into the intake. I think there would be performance gains by removing the EGR system and should increase performance. EGR systems reduce air flow, combustion efficiency and consequently engine power
