On ebay now: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Rare-Prowler-Delivery-Hardtop-/252361122570?hash=item3ac1e5230a:g:tK0AAOSwstxVXmuo&vxp=mtr

What about this? Does anyone like these? This one needs a lot of work? Throw away or fix?

It's not something I would want but they are rare. You would have to buy it right to account for the repairs needed.

That thing has been for sale on eBay for the past year or two. There are a few threads about it here on POA.

Looks really rough, missing the back glass and must have been dragged on the side of it or fell while being carried

I would like to have one, thought they were cool, but the one Mark had on his car at dream cruise when he was still trying to make them wasn't in great shape. Had a broken hinge I believe. But still cool and SCREAMS for gold Leaf lettering on the side

$3,000 for it is a lot, but think there were only 5 produced and sold. Steve Gilespie had the best one I seen on his Black Cat. He told me how much work they had to do to it to make it that nice.

So if someone really wants one they do not come up for sale often. So how much would it cost to repair it and what would it cost to buy one that was in good shape?

I think most people would prefer a regular hardtop since it is easy to remove and have open top driving at any time. The Delivery top you have a delivery sedan all the time unless you go thru the trouble of removing it and reinstalling the trunk & convertible top.

I was a bidder the last time it came up, but the shipping was outrageous and I could not seal the deal at the right price.
I still have a project in mind for a fourth car, but I haven't decided if I will try again on this. I guess I have a few more days to decide before bidding ends.
I have had to put the cars aside due to much more going on at work than I would like, and training my replacement since I am retiring at the end of the year. I hope to get back into showing again, but have already missed many shows this season.

I did try to find the other threads, but I did not spell "hardtop" as one word. The term "delivery" brought up far too many threads. In any case, it's back up again and deserves one more thread. It seems like the biggest problem with this example is the price for the unit, considering how much custom hardware and repair it will need. Then again, being as it is so rare it's hard to know what it's really worth. One thing I like about eBay is that if items are actually put up for auction, the market will tell you what they really worth. That may not be the case for this item, but an auction-sale format would be one way to find out what someone might really be willing to pay.

There is a reason they only built 5 of these. Main reason is popularity, that is probably why they didn't sell. It would decrease the value of the car unless it was a wreck to begin with. Custom touches are in the eye of the beholder, that doesn't make them valuable.

Tom, You are retiring in a few years , Go for it, You only live once. Its fiberglass and can be fixed by any good body shop. I have never seen one in person, but I like the look.
Tom , you can drive , rent a trailer from U Haul & pick it up. Just might be well worth it, plus you could probably use a little vacation. Lots to see in Wisconsin this time of year, and its really not that far. ROADTRIP !

Phil, I only have 8 more months to go!!!! Hard to believe I have been doing this for almost 37 years!
I see there are no bids yet, I'm seriously considering giving it another shot. I have plenty of trailers here that I could make the trip in.

Used
Seller Notes:

“Solid top but needs total restoration, has front location pins and latches, both main mounting bracket, as of now i have not found the rear hatch hinges, if i do not find i can draw out plans to make or you can make another set of your own design, and you will need to have a piece of glass cut for the rear hatch.”

It is skidded and ready to ship at buyers expense

Since this item/topic is not in the CLASSIFIED forum, I'll respond:
IMO, not worth anywhere near the starting bid price of $3000.

I made him an offer somewhat less than his starting bid, but have not received a reply as of yet. I see there were no bids and the auction has ended. I just don't think that with the condition and the cost of me getting it back here, it was at the price I needed it to be at, but I am willing to work with him some on it.

Took us awhile to get it here, but the Delivery Top has made it here to its new home in Texas. I will keep everyone posted on the progress, nothing planned immediately, but the thought is that it will go on Prowler Number 4, which has yet to be purchased.
To be continued....

Yes sir, I am looking forward to trying to catch up with my prowler projects, I hate that they have been neglected lately.
May need another Monster Trailer soon, but I do have to go pick up Prowler Trailer #4 next week. Trying to assemble the pieces I need for this next car.

Tom, You should check with your body man to see if he can make a copy of the new panel body for the go cart. Doesn't get better than that.

No progress, it was purchased for a future project Kat, and wasn't intended to go onto any of my three current Kats. It is here at the house in Texas now. I will be sending it to Don Ward's Shop in Houston to get some extensive fiberglass repair done. It has a lot of surface cracks in the gel coat and some areas need some deep work.
I have a couple other projects ahead of this one, but hope to get started on it by spring.
I knew the top was rough when I first looked at it, but to have one of the five known to have been built was the reason for what I consider an investment in Prowler history.
I have been looking to buy a Class A motorhome first, but Prowler #4 keeps coming to mind first!!!!
Stay tuned!

PS - I have recently added the fourth Prowler trailer for the future Kat and have on hand a fourth Prowler Go Cart as to stay with my current theme of my collection.

Retirement is in 4 months, hope that frees up some time for all my projects !
