Just a reminder that I am not making a dime on this project as a matter of fact my set will cost me what everyone else pays plus my $600 for the R and D. Also I won't jump anyone up in the Que. those who expressed interest and have not returned my pm's will be dropped to the bottom of the second run list and I will take the next name in the line I am going to rework the list either today or tomorrow so keep an eye out for a pm from me. thanks jim |

Jim your a good man, but there is no way R&D would not have been split among all purchasers. I know you wanted to make these for yourself anyway, but selling them for no profit is already a benefit to all who wanted them. Thanks for doing this for everyone. |

Thank you Gary, I appreciate it ... Andria was the one who made it all possible, she took a set off her car and sent them to me so I could get a 3D scan done...and she wouldn't let me pay her back for the shipping cost... everyone that gets a set has her to thank... I had been wanting this item for years but other that a pair that were on ebay 4 or 5 years ago there were none to be bought... Almost bought a set for $1000 but the owner decided to keep them. At the end of this run mine will cost me about $1200, pretty close to what I would have paid to have only one set made... so really I'm good with that, it allowed me to offer them up to others for exact cost, kinda like spreading the joy... So many people have helped me out on this site for almost 12 years, gave me things gave me deals on stuff but most of all the friendship ... I am doing nothing more that what others have done for me ... The very best giving is when you don't expect anything back.... Its what being a Prowler owner is... |

I have just sent out 4 new requests for payment on the last 4 sets of the first run... 4 people didn't respond, I waited 2 weeks so these new 4 have been bumped up the list and the other guys will go down to the second run... hope everyone understands.. When the second run is done and ready for me to pick up the extras will be put on an ad in the classified section... right now as it stands after today 9 will be paid for and shipped... I have committed to 20 sets. |

Well step buy step. Nerf instructions... Take grill out. Take battery out. Take battery holder out. Then take the horns off . You are now ready to install the small bracket at the back . Now you can move to the front bracket.. You will have to take your time to adjust and then tighten all the bolts.

Robin had sent me his instructions before posting and they work out great with only one exception. I was not able to get the rear small bolts to thread despite 45 minutes of trying. I ended up having to insert the bolts upwards with only the locking washer (no wide washer) and put the wide washer and nut on top before finally getting to thread. Even after removing the one washer I was still not able to thread the nut much but tightened as best as I could. If it comes loose and the bolt falls out the lower washer wouldn't have helped anyways but at least I was able to finally thread. I wonder if one long bolt from battery tray all the way down through both holes to bracket would work. I may investigate in future. I was able to get a good shine with wet sanding and polishing but will probably remove in winter to do further back or decide to chrome. Either way, with the exception of the back bracket problems, it is a great product and XP did a great job. This message has been edited by kriegsadmiral on 08-03-2016 at 02:46 PM |

I agree, a longer bolt to replace the battery tray bolts would have been a better option... my tray bolt heads were so rusty I had a hell of a time backing them out but my car has almost 100,000 miles on it so rusty bolts are common on my car. I guess driving it in the rain doesn't help either.. once the nuts are on a bit of locktite might be a good idea... |

I ended up going with just a bit longer bolt on the back bracket and then I used three washers under the battery tray bolts to raise them up just a bit. Put a piece of duct tape over the tops as they were raised a bit out of the tray holes so they didn't rub directly on bottom of battery but battery still locked in place tightly so I don't see an issue. Now installed they have received a lot of compliments. |

I was going to grind a bit off the tip of the battery tray bolts because it was so tight... I don't have my set yet thinking I may use the long bolts for the tray and the bracket. |

I want to thank you all for being patient with me on this project. Sascha has been patiently waiting for his set so they will be going out to Italy tomorrow or Monday. I haven't been online much the past few weeks, there have been things with both work and personal that have been sucking the life out of me but I'm starting to get a bit more free time so hope to get back to normal soon. I have 2 sets left that haven't been spoken for, they are ready to pick up at the machine shop so my turn around time once I have the money will only be a couple days. If anyone is interested just send me a pm and we will go from there... I still don't have a set on my car, apparently I've put myself to the back of the line...lol Thanks again everyone... hope everyone is enjoying the nerfs...

Thanks for this Jim ... mine also made it all the way to the UK fine, I haven't chromed and installed them yet, but sometime in the fall it will be done Just a great project, I can imagine in a year or two that new Prowler owners will stumble upon this thread and wish they were here then to get a set |

There is not enough demand for parts, especially specialty parts due to the very low volume of Prowlers on the road. It is not worth their time to make only a few. Jim took it upon himself to drum up some interest and do all of the leg work to help out the others. |

Just a FYI that after all this I still don't have a set for myself. Mine went to France. I have a 2 sets still at the machine shop but because some of the people that backed out they got stuck with them and are unhappy with me about it. one of these sets are mine. I don't have the money myself to just go get them and they won't sell me just one set now they want both sets to go at once. I have a couple of pm's out to you guys that sent me pm's and show interest. If I don't reply its because I haven't been on the site, but will check in more often until we get this nerf bar issue resolved. I hope that those that got the product like them and want to thank all for the patience you have showed. Jim |
