Hamlyn, this is an excellent post. Your attention to detail is impeccable. It's one thing to do extensive research, soak it all up, then apply it to the vehicle. That in and of itself is impressive. ...and the car looks fantastic.

However, to then document your research and the processes you used, then providing these thorough posts is beyond impressive.

Great job. Thank you for saving many others hours of research by providing such a clear summary in your posts. I will definitely use several of these findings.

Very nice work.
I agree, it does take a lot of time to do a full detail. Seems like when I finish the last car on the list, it's time to start from the first one all over again. I am always detailing, kind of like mowing my yard, seems like it never ends!

Looks lovely, thanks for sharing, you really have done a first class job.

I have also been having a go detailing but not yet got around to the Prowler.

The only thing I can add is to try a 'clay' cloth. It is an artificial clay put on a cloth allowing you to spray the lubricant and drag the cloth across the paintwork with no pressure rather than having to keep re-shaping clay that can only do a small area. Having used both the cloth is so much quicker and seems to give a similar result.

There are many different types, I think I used one made buy Monza.

This is a lot of reading. I have documented the highlights of the information gathered during my research. I have included some links to information that I found to be beneficial to me. While much of this information is not the final authority on how to detail an automobile, it is information that helped me with my endeavor to achieve the results above.
Please feel free to comment or ask questions. I will try and provide as much information as possible.

Tips:
I recommend you keep separate microfiber towels, applicators, brushes for different areas. I have purple towels for windows, yellow microfiber towels for the body, black mitts and towels for the wheels, white towels for leather, green towels for interior cleaning. This helps me identify the correct towel and keeps from cross-contamination. I purchased my towels and applicators from the rag company (http://www.theragcompany.com/). If your order exceeds $75, they will give you wholesale pricing. I have found 16” by 24” waffle weave towels selling for $16 each elsewhere online. The rag company’s 16” by 16” waffle weave towel cost me $2.85 wholesale (retail $7.85).

One drive home on the dirt and rock road I live on and it all seems for naught. Any suggestions (besides moving)?
