Strong Arm 4026 at most auto parts store. You only need one and it will last for years.
You have to remove BOTH old ones FIRST. The hood needs to open just about an inch more than the old ones will let it.
ONE of them will do the job perfectly. I have been using it for about 5 years and others did it way longer than that.

I have been using the Strong Arm replacement struts but prefer to replace them in pairs with the thought being even pressure on both hinges. They only last a couple of years before they eventually fail.

It will be necessary to swap one of the ends on each arm as the Strong Arm ends are different.

The end that attaches to the hood side requires a small flat blade screwdriver to pry the round cap loose.

The attached photo's show what the cap that needs pried out (but not off) looks like.

Note:
The left strut shows the cap as it sits in the car.
The right strut shows the cap pried out as far as it goes. When you are done, it simply presses back into place.

Andria, I have never had to replace the Strong Arm. I wonder if you happened to get a lemon? Mine have been on for about 5 years, I think but I don't have the hood up very much as I don't do car shows. The Strong Arms are very reasonably priced, less than $ 30 as I recall.

^^ Your best bet to last a long time.

Strong Arm are the same as OEM struts, made by the same company, and are prone to leak gas and fail sooner.

Ed,
In the ten years I have owned my Prowler, I have replaced the fronts no less that three times and the rear set, one time.

Back in 2009 at the Smokies event when the LST brand were made available, it was discovered they would not fit on my hinges as they appeared to be to long. I was told that a small percentage of the Prowlers have had the same issue.
As a result, I went ahead and replaced them with the Strong Arm brand. They carry a "Limited Lifetime Warranty" but it expires after about one year and does not cover "wearing out" which is what they eventually do.

The temperature seems to have some effect of how well they support the hood as well. At the first sign that they won't hold the hood up, I replace them just to be on the safe side.

I did a quickie search on the subject and found the following threads: ( Strong Arm 4032 for the Hood. )

Just replaced my Strong Arm hood struts last week. The ones that failed were replacements I bought on Amazon for $30 with a limited lifetime warranty. Contacted the seller, Lift Supports Depot, thru Amazon and they got right back to me. Cost me $9.95 shipping for the replacements. Got them within a few days.

For me the original replacement set lasted exactly 4 years.

LS Technologies, highly recommended. The first stop I made after purchasing my Prowler and SSR was to them. 8 years for the SSR and 2 years for the Prowler. Their office is right in my town. You can't beat their service.
