I just found out my granddaughter graduates from U C that week-end so I guess we won't be going after all. Sounds like a great time and we wish we could make it, BUT.

A little mix-up and some reason my POA site isn't taking my recent changes to the original post.

Check the first post for lodging info. You have till 4/5 (Monday) to get it in on the Kat Pack group rate.

Thanks for all the issues, hopefully corrected???

The booking line is still having problems finding the group rate. Kat Pack??

Just heard that the hotel misclassified the group rate under Somers Wedding! So it sounds like we are going to do some additional partying while we are there. If the person you are speaking to can't find the Kat Pack, have them check Somer's Wedding.

Room block is for 2 queens @ rate of $129 / night.

Maybe listed under the FLA Kat pack. The woman in charge of group rates will be in on Thurs. according to the young man I talked to on Monday.
Ask for Tara or Mary Sims if you have a problem.

Working on it. Leanne just got back from Michigan and she had stopped in Savannah and Charleston on her way back and has some good stuff for us to talk about. I should have something by end of the week if all goes well.

We have narrowed the itinerary down. We will all meet in Savannah for lunch on Thurs(4/26), time to be announced. Most of us will be traveling up from FL. From there we will go into the city and take one of the tours. Trying to make it a less packed day because of the travel. Second day in Savannah can be a river boat cruise with lunch??

The next 2 days are somewhat up in the air. What really matters is the weather and where most of the group would like to visit more. Since the lodging is in between both cities we have choices. Our thoughts are Charleston on Friday as there is more to do there. We have the historical tours and Patriot's Point with the Naval Ships, etc. Between both it will be a full day including lunch and dinner.

More to come tomorrow.....

We now have the meeting spot in Savannah. We will meet at the Crystal Beer Parlor restaurant for lunch on Thur. 4/26 at 1 PM.

From there we will go to the tour trolley stop. They have a 2 day pass and that is what we decided on. We will spend the rest of the day after lunch on the tours and then head over to the Hotel and after check ins, we'll have a group dinner around 7PM.

On Fri. we'll go back to Savannah and they have a river boat/lunch cruise (about $48) that will take approx 2.5 hrs. that boards at 12 noon. After the cruise you will be able to use your 2 day pass to explore the city again. Back to the hotel and a group dinner.

On Sat. we'll travel into Charleston(about a 1.75 hr trip) . Patriot's Point is the destination. They have tours of an aircraft carrier, destroyer and sub. That is the main focus of Sat. Depending on what you want to do and how much time you want to spend at the ships, the afternoon is open for trolley tours of the city. We'll all meet around 5PM and have a group dinner at Stickyfingers restaurant which is close by Patriot's Point. Lunch on Sat is up to you.

Sun. is travel home day. Those going south can stop again in Savannah if you care to.

Any questions can be PM'ed to me. Have a safe trip in!

We need to reserve the lunch cruise on the Riverboat for Friday. Use the narrated harbor luncheon at this link:

Riverboat Luncheon Cruise Link

(Found this better site a bit cheaper)

make sure to click the tab for lunch cruise and not brunch cruise, then how many tickets and then the 1PM Friday 4/27) Lunch Cruise.

With a lot people possibly in town it will be good to book early

We hope the weather is great and everyone is having a great time. Sorry we couldn't make it. Sandy is on jury duty, this week and next week so we wouldn't have been able to make it even if Samantha wasn't graduating tomorrow. Have fun and post a few pics.

The Bill Sommers Memorial Ride is history. Great weekend, great people. 6 from FL, 6 from Pennsylvania and 1 from Michigan. ED...not a drop of rain. This is how you plan an event. Had 2 days worth of Savannah. What a neat city with plenty to see and do. Just got back from Charleston after spending the day on the great ships of war and dinner at Sticky Fingers. Hanging out in the lobby talking and getting ready for the trip home tomorrow. Pictures to come in the next few days.

Have a few photos. I'm sure there are more to come. We had a really good 2 days in Savannah. We had 3 different tour guides driving the trolleys and each had their own set of facts. We got a kick out of that. Got to see Steve's new trailer...all I can say is WOW! Had 4 wonderfully clear pleasant days in both cities and full of wonder.

Those are some of my stills. Thanks to all for making the event what it was. Small group but a bunch of great people.
