Larry it is about 15 miles from us. This just happened 2 years ago as the article says. State and county spent many millions of dollars repairing and redesigning this area so this wouldn't happen again. It was worse this time, this area has flooded many times over the years, but keeps getting worse as more building is happening in the area. We also had a lot of rain, but not as much as this area. In the back of my property is a low area, normally no water, but during big storms like this one I get a small stream about 5' wide and 6" deep just from neighbors grass properties , no roadways. That's how hard it was coming down. |

",,,,I get a small stream about 5' wide and 6" deep,,, Glad to hear that flood didn't involve your area....it looked real bad with many cars floating downstream Maybe local government will get smarter this time and divert the floodplain to a different, safer location... |

Metro-Phoenix "Haboob" Dust Storm - July 5, 2011 Watch in FULL SCREEN VIEW While small, fast moving 'dust storms' come through during July/August months,,,,,,a very rare HABOOB is an experience > bright daylight to total darkness in the middle of the afternoon. Guess that is better than having hurricanes, tornadoes, floods, ice storms, and white-out blizzards pounding us.... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8W4Cx44XKZ4 MEMORIES, from seven years ago...... |

Yup, that's me,,,except I rarely use an open-end wrench. My main tool is a > left-handed, metric, crescent wrench.. Those huge dust storms cause havoc with the swimming pools, lawn furniture, shingles and tile roofs ripped off, tree branches broke off, dust seeping into the house, and some home owners have to chase their window screens down about three blocks away. Satellite TV users lose their picture until it blows over. That wall of dust that day, went up to the 6,000 feet elevation and beyond... Luckily, they don't last long, but going from bright daylight to total darkness is strange. This message has been edited by ALLEY CAT on 07-07-2018 at 10:05 AM |

I'm good, just busy as can be... Need more hours in the day! No fires near us. Never say never but the Thomas fire burned 440 sq miles around Ojai... We don't have a lot left to burn right now. Sadly I do have friends who's family have lost their homes in the fire burning up in Redding. |

Public service information.....
The states with the majority of these muggings/robberies take place: Nevada. FBI statistics show the state saw 217.5 robberies per 100,000 people in 2015. That’s compared to the 164 robberies per 100,000 people in the second most robbery-laden state, Maryland. State number three is California, with 135 robberies, followed by Delaware, with 130.6. New York rounds out the top five with 120.9 robberies. |
