For some reason it takes a LOOOONNGG time for them to get to Canada. I guess it is Customs that holds them up. It seems to happen every time. |

I don't know. You will have to ask Dick about that. |

I was over at Dick's shop on Tue. and we discussed this topic. He told me that he would not sell the aluminum rings and O rings separately. They actually machine the center caps after they take off the five plastic support pieces. He needs to insure it is perfectly level. They then use industrial strength "glue" of some sort. He doesn't think the do it yourself option will work out perfectly. Sorry. Let's be happy he came up with the solution in the first place. I have not contributed anything to the solution so I am not about to disagree with him about HIS solution to our problem. |

For the cost, quality and service it is not worth DIY. |

Sent my center caps in today. Took my Prowler to the car wash and bumped one of the caps with the brush and it fell off. Better there than on the road somewhere. Got home and pulled the other 3 off. All 3 had missing parts. Lucky I hadn't already lost one. Thanks again Dick for your work. This message has been edited by LSK on 07-08-2018 at 07:45 AM |

The plastic gets hard/brittle and they literally fall apart. I was washing my car exactly one week after I had washed it last. When I did the wheel, the center cap was loose. This was years ago, way before Dick came up with the solution. |

Hello just wanted to make sure you're still doing the repair - would you have a phone number and do you take Paypal? Many Thanks |

I presume you are addressing me, but I don't really do any of it. That said you can call me 513 a c and my number is three-ten, 30 sixty seven. I do have Paypal and you can pay me and I will pay Dick. You need to send them directly to Dick, however. He is about 30 minutes from me and I haven't been getting over there nearly as much. My paypal is my first initial, my last name without the last N and it is at Gmail. |

Scott, I was over at Dick's on Wed and they said some had just come in from Cal but didn't mention your name. They usually get them back to the sender within 7 days except when they are going to Canada and sometimes it is 21 days, due to customs, I guess. It is always really slow getting them to Canada. They usually repair them and send them out within a day or two. I will let them know you are happy. I will probably see Dick at a Parade on Monday, unless it rains. |

I sent mine out via UPS on Saturday and they were fixed and returned to me on the following Friday. I highly recommend Dicks modification. |

It's been 15 months and over 4K miles since Dick did the center cap repairs for me. There have been no problems and the caps are as tight as when I put them on. Loosing one cap and trying to find a replacement will probably cost as much as the repair bill for all 4 caps. |

I recently had the repair done by the Florida Bandits. I wish I'd known about this. They charged 50% more and probably sent them to Dick, right? Just FYI - the four for the car worked fine but the two for my trailer came back loose fitting. All 6 were identical so this means that the trailer rims are slightly different internally. I placed a little wad of Gorilla Tape under the O ring in 5 strategic spots and it worked fine. A better solution would be an O ring that is 2 x thickness of Gorilla tape bigger in diameter for trailer wheels... |

We are aware of the several different manufacturers of the center caps AND trailer wheels. The P store stole Dick's design |

They did not do a good job of copying. My rings are fixed with a wad of black silicone gloop, not epoxy as I would have expected. The actual workmanship was also shoddy compared to how I would have done it. I tried to buy the rings from them too as I am perfectly capable of doing some machine work myself but they would not bite. I also told them up front that two were off my trailer and after getting them back (loose fitting) they told me they'd never heard of this problem but would take a look in the future. Note, no offer to fix mine..... By then I'd started getting the picture from down south since I tried to get some info that should have been simple. They were all ears about what I was trying to do but offered no quid pro quo. Some folks here have since clued me in on other intellectual property that went missing so I now have the whole picture! |

When Dick machined some he found diff. colored plastic on some of them. There were at least 2 diff. runs of trailers made, a few years apart. Sorry you got screwed by them, too. Many have been screwed and they never make it right after the sale. |

By the way, the center caps do fit SOME trailers, but not all of them. I don't know which ones they work on, at this point. |
