anyone else have problems with their Prowler not starting if it sits for a week or two - I put a brand new battery in June because of this issue - I bought new battery and it is back to not starting again if it sits. Anyone else have this problem?? |

I have a 2000 that does this. I put a quick disconnect on the negative terminal. That solves the problem. I also have a 99 and my dad has an 02 and neither of them suffer from parasitic drain. One of these days I may get around to troubleshooting. |

Both of mine do it when weather gets colder. They are usually ok from May - October as long as I drive them once a month. November - April I use a battery tender. The 99 seems to drain faster then the 01. This is first year I left tenders on all summer. |

Mine has this problem, even after putting a new Optima battery in it. I think thr main cause for mine is the stereo system I had put in, which includes an always on USB charger. Anyway, I got myself a little battery tender a couple of months ago and now it starts like a charm every time. Highly recommend this strategy. The battery tender disconnects in just seconds, so not a hassle at all. |

I have found through using a test light the problem is in the #4 15amp fused Interior Lights circuit. When I remove the fuse there is no battery drain. This circuit is for interior lights, door locks, and radio. I had disconnected the negative battery cable and connected my test light between them and that's how I traced my problem to #4 circuit. I have disconnected the glove compartment light switch, the door light switches, and the courtesy lights in the mirror. With these items disconnected and the fuse installed and the battery connected I let the car sit for four days and there wasn't any drain on the battery when I checked it with a volt meter. When every thing is connected all the lights work normally except for drain on the battery. I've been at this for over a week. Any thoughts, ideas, suggestions? Although the switches don't normally cause a battery draw... it is possible. However, I would start by checking the modules as one of them may be bad or staying awake causing your battery drain..

If you can't find the parasitic draw.Then this maybe a cure for you. Do you have after market add on's lights alarm stereo etc. These can cause your problem.

I have kill switch on most of my cars . and on the Prowlers they are mounted on a bracket above the battery . They are cheep and ez to install .. On the Street Rods they are hidden from sight ... |

Please try to post your solution if found. scottmartin I agree with Gary - I was having problems with mine starting if it sat for a week or two - I noticed the negative post on the battery was not tight even though I had tightened the nut as tight as possible so I crimped the terminal a bit so it fits tight to the battery post and have not had a problem the last 3 weeks. Hopefully this resolved my problem - appears to have. |

Same problem here, 2 weeks and the battery is flat .. unfortunately where I park it at the moment (underground secure garage) I have no access to a power plug, so no battery tender for me  |

I haven`t fired up the cat for a couple of weeks - I will try today to see if it starts- if it does then I believe it was because the terminal on the negative post of the new battery I bought was to loose even though I tighten it as tight as the bolt would allow. Even then I could twist the terminal so I grabbed some pliers and slightly crimped the terminal and it has been starting - but I will try because I think this has been the longest time sitting since I tries. I will keep u posted. |

well it started no problem and usually it doesn't when sitting this long. Hopefully that was my problem - crimp the negative terminal so it fits tight to the negative post. |

Well so much for that theory / hope - car wouldn't`t start today. Must have an electrical drain somewhere - no aftermarket accessories have been added which draws any amps - back to trouble shooting. I thought the loose negative terminal on the battery was the problem but it was not. It seemed to have rectified the problem but today. Well the car will be going away for the winter storage soon so I will have all winter to research the problem. |

My 2000 has started to have this problem. If it sits w/ the battery connected for a day or 2, the battery will be dead. if I unhook the battery there isn't a problem. For the last 2 years I have had some noise from my radio when it is on (sounds like the tape motor is running). When I was putting the car away for the winter, I noticed when I opened the passenger door & moved the door back & forth I could hear a static sound from the door speaker w/ the radio off (then I disconnected the battery & moved the door there wasn't a sound). I'm wondering if the radio isn't the power drain problem. I have a stock radio. I guess I will need to do some tracing out next spring. |

Most radios whether factory or aftermarket have a wire that connects to constant power so as to keep any presets or adjustments constant. It is a very small drain. I always keep mine on a tender. |

Is that pull the radio fuse next time and leave battery connected. If it starts it might be the radio. |
