Dale, Unfortunately in my opinion, we as a society have done this to ourselves. Just think how often you hear someone ask "Do you have anything CHEAPER", when looking for just about any product. In my OPINION, the term "Cheap" implies a "Poor or Lesser Quality" while the term "Less expensive" does not necessarily mean the same thing. Many people (myself included) would like to find the best price for an item but instead of asking for a better price, they ask for cheaper thinking they are interchangeable terminologies. I don't believe they are. It seems to me that in response to the consumers desire to purchase items at the lowest possible price point, manufacturers of products have listened to the consumer's request for "Cheaper" and delivered. If one is willing to do some research, I am confident they can find a better made item that is as cost effective as the "Cheaper" item but of a better quality at the same time. That is what I look for when purchasing many items but sometimes in the hurry to purchase a product, quality is often overlooked in favor of a lower price, often because of availability. |

His testing would have had more validity if he went on to test when the fuse actually blows. After all, that's the primary purpose of a fuse. He states the SAE spec is +135% of rated current value should be point fuse blows. (25:40) He never got close to that number. Therefore we don't really know whether cheap fuse are worse at protecting a circuit that other fuses because he never got to that junction. Looking at it another way. Modern cars have RPM limiters in PCM. If you what to test it, you have to exceed the set point by some amount determined by factory. Otherwise you don't know if it's working and protecting. I'm not making a case for cheap vs good. Just stating his testing was not complete and missed the most critical measurement. |
