Hey everyone I'm hoping someone has the solution in helping my 2001 pass California's smog process!! The O2 Heater sensor is not coming to ready and I have been trying all kinds of remedies for the last several weeks. Any help would be greatly appreciated!! Thanks, |

Tell us what you did so far so we can better help you. Did you change the sensor? If you put in a new battery or disconnected the battery you will have to drive the car 25 to 50 miles to reset the sensors. So a few miles a day for several weeks might not be enough to reset the sensor/computer. |

I have not replaced either O2 sensor or battery. I have driven it over 100 miles 2-3 times at various speeds, with no luck. I have driven it 5 miles (twice) at 50-55 with no luck. |

Try disconnecting the battery for about 15 minutes and see if that resets it. |

Which sensor? Do a visual inspection of the wiring and plugs then check for power and ground. How are you on electrical testing? Any good shop should be able to troubleshoot and repair a simple O2 problem. This message has been edited by padroo on 08-13-2018 at 09:16 PM |

Thanks Padroo, it's the O2 heater sensor. None of the 3 local Chrysler dealerships will book me an appointment! |

Driving it while it has a defective part will not fix your problem. The defective sensor needs to be replaced. They don't fix themselves. I had a heater problem with my upstream driver side last week when trying to smog my car. A quick trip to Amazon and $30 later I had it in two days. Thanks Larry, I too thought that would be the easy solution too. I suggested this to the smog shop and the State referee and was told by both parties that this would not resolve the issue. Both of their remedies was to drive it at 50-55 MPH for 3-5 minutes. So after that didn't work I thought I would put my problem out to the Prowler group! |
