Removed the dash and cluster panel today. Will be sending the gauges to NJ for repairs. This message has been edited by Simonsez on 09-07-2018 at 07:27 PM |

It wasn't that difficult to remove the dash but at the same time it is scary since I have never done anything like this. I will send the cluster out for repair to fix the problem. I think putting it back will be easier. |

Just updating. Got the cluster back from local guy near Dallas. He does a lot of cluster work, but had only worked on one Prowler previously. Cluster did not work correctly, 'no bus' at center, fuel and temp went to half, no oil reading, seat belt, air bag low tire and low fuel on. I boxed it up Tuesday 9/18 and it is off to New Jersey, I thought that was what I should have done, but was too lazy to box it up and ship. I will probably get an extra charge since he has a note about trying to fix other peoples failed work!!

Received a video a couple of days ago showing the testing of my gauges after repairs. All worked. Today I received the cluster and installed and back together in 15 minutes. Easy fix. I highly recommend sending a bad cluster to:
gmspeedshoprepair@gmail.com His company has been in business sine the 1950's. He feels this is an inherent problem from the manufacturer. He was very resonable and professional in his work. This message has been edited by Simonsez on 09-22-2018 at 08:23 AM |

How did you find that guy, Bruce? Glad you got it fixed, I like happy endings. It would be great if we had a section for "repairs that really work" with the contact info for the. All in one place for when we need some technical work done. |

Well … I got some bad news yesterday from ezelectronics in NJ. They worked on it 2 hours and deemed it not repairable. I talked to them and it seems that the prior attempt to repair in Dallas caused damage they can not determine. EZ was very nice seemed very competent and will not charge since they could not fix. I offered to pay given the time they spent, but they said no. I'm thinking to check with the guy Bruce used and see if they want to look at it. Anyone have other thoughts, the cat has been caged for a few months. |

After our 10,000 mile journey in July, we cleaned up the flip flop car and put it in the trailer. Pulled it out today to load up the 02 for TN at the end of the week and noticed most of the gauges were on their pegs (see photo). Went through a few start cycles with no change. Took it around the block and another start cycle, no change. Took the photo above and decided to take one with the lights on, as soon as I pulled out the light switch the gauges and cluster all started working fine. I'll keep an eye on it and if it happens again, send it off to Bruce's guy... BTW - it too is a 1999! This message has been edited by DublinOH on 10-07-2018 at 11:02 AM |

FYI, I tried to send an email to the email you listed but came back as a non existent address. I Googled Toader Zara and looks like the company is Eastern Electronics Service, LLC and the email I came up with is eastelec@optonline.net FYI. I am supposed to receive my BCM back tomorrow via UPS and will be moving on to having the gauge cluster and circuit boards looked in to since the BCM checked out ok. I might see if a local tach shop can diagnose, if not I will be sending to United Radio or Toader. Hoping someone can determine what the issue is and hoping it's just a capacitor and will end this issue.

Simonsez - Did they tell you what they fixed or what part they replaced ? Do you know what was causing the issue ? |
