I am about to install the ZEX wet nitrous system into my 2001 prowler. I have heard a few different things on which spark plugs to use. I am still unsure of what to use. During my research someone says to put the Iridium IQ24s. and gap at .035. When I spoke to ZEX they said to use the champion 570 and gap at .040. When I called spark plugs.com they told me to use the Denso IQ22 and gap at .035. Can someone give me a straight and correct answer as which I should be using and what gap? Thanks |

I would go with the ZEX recommendation , its there system. They should know what they are talking about. |

So this is my problem. No one gives me a real answer. The reason I am hesitant about what ZEX said is spark plugs.com told me that cannot be! So this is why I am confused on what to use. |

The plugs do not have to be the Iridium brand, only have an iridium tip. |

The reason to use irridium plugs is that they handle temperature spikes much better that copper of even platinum tip plugs. With the coil on plug ignition .035" or .040" isn't much of an issue. Using more than a 75 HP shot of nitrous with Prowler has been problematic. Just what I've learned. |

Just saw this and below is a copy and paste from my an old post I made. Strap length on the plug is important and the material the plug is made of is important. I went to the spark plug maker to get the info and since had confirmed what the tech said from another call as I wanted to be sure.... I have been doing some research on appropriate spark plugs for my prowler with the new nitrous system I have purchase(zex wet 55-75hp). I noticed in a lot of older posts people have talked about the autolite 5224 plug and the iridium denso plugs. I was able to get in touch with the autolite performance/race application tech and he said that the 5224 plug was a poor choice and that in no way should any iridium plug or plug with precious metal be used with nitrous. He said the 2 plugs he would feel safe suggesting is the AR-3911 and the (if my memory serves and not transposing numbers) AR-3943 plug. Of course he said with these plugs I should expect residue buildup and have to replace the plugs more often but would never have to worry about these plugs burning up...... |

If you can't trust the company that sells there product. then go somewhere else. I think you should be more concerned about the ecm code p0601 |

I agree with you guys about trusting the company. But my issue is when I called the pros from spark plug.com they told me in no way can that plug work. So that is the confusion |

I would not worry too much about which plug to use, not much science about what is correct. It all depends on how you are going to use the system i.e. on occasion or drag racing competition. The main thing to consider it that you stay below a 100HP shot and not use it for more than 14 seconds at a time. If you plan on using it for racing instead of occasional fun you should probably have the engine rebuilt to handle the added power. |

Sorry - been on a four day business trip in all 4 time zones and haven;t had much online time. Back in the day when I had a Nitrous Express system on my stock engine the plugs the installer used were DENSO IRIDIUM IQ24s. I have no idea what he gapped it at and he died three years ago so I can't ask him. |
