It's the de-coupler pulley on alternator that's gone bad.

On eBay for $47.88 with free shipping.

Only requires a large hex socket to remove.

What year is your car Don.do you have the de-coupler pulley on alternator .
4868402AA

Don can you locate where the growl is coming from?
one thing to be sure is new doesn't always mean it works especially with remanufactured.

I still think it's one of these .

de-coupler pulley on alternator
The tensioner would be more like a squeal. bearing gone.
If you can take it back to where it was purchased have them check it. keep us posted.. thanks

Ok Don so you should have the de-coupler pulley.
Now can you locate the sound when car running. Drivers side?
I would still have it checked at a shop if you purchased it there.
How long have you had this alternator.

There was a member on here that went through three alternators before getting one that worked. Remans are bad for that. go oem

He liked the sound of the bad decoupler pulley, now that it has been replaced, he misses the sound.
