I really at a loss at what my issues is... I'm 99% completed with the re-install from Gary's chroming but I can't get the brakes to work at all,,, I have bleed the lines "5" times... I have bleed the master cylinder 10 times... Gave up and purchased a new Master Cylinder...Bleed that and the lines again... Pedal gets hard "UNTIL I START THE CAR"... Once the car is started there is ZERO brake pressure... Pedal goes right to the floor without any resistance... Booster Vacuum valve seems good and can't hear any vacuum leak.. Is this a Booster issue??? Any ideas??? Thanks for your time

Rich, are you bleeding it through a hose into a jar with brake fluid in it? Are you getting any air the last time you bleed? Did you pre bleed the new master cylinder before you installed it? My only experience with Prowler brakes was when I changed front brake pads to ceramic. I suctioned most of the old brake fluid out of the master cylinder and then kept adding fluid and bleeding into a jar until the fluid was clear on all four corners. I never totally opened the system up to the atmosphere. |

Hey Dale... Yes.... everything in regards to bleeding was done properly... I have a pressure bleeder which is a closed system and forces new fluid through the lines... There is no way to introduce air. Each bleed is clear of any air... What is strange is that without the car started the brakes operate perfectly... Its when I start the car the brakes "Disappear" completely and zero resistance on the pedal (Goes right to the floor with ease)... I'd take it to the dealer but I can't drive it as is... |

Hi Rich I had a problem like yours up grade on a street rod a while ago .. changed the master cly/calipers /pads. etc ..then this car did the same thing You are talking about .. I was pulling out my Hair .. used a bleeder /had help some one in the car pump and hold the brake .etc. This was my fix .. I just knew I had all of the air out but did I ??? No . A old guy told me You still have air in the lines I told him No Way .but then did what he told me and it fixed it ... and this might be easer on a prowler because the master cly is up hi in the car and the one on the street rod was under the floor .. Now I don't know for sure if this will help but give it a try . get a small hose that will slip on the bleeder and to a small container put some Brake fluid in it start at the back open the bleeder and let the fluid run out this way it can't suck any air back in You may not see any air just make sure to keep the master cly full work your way to the front . Power brakes For some reason I had to have the motor running kinda crazy but it worked for me . the Symptoms I had were the same as Yours |

Ok Jim... Appreciate the response...!!! So I'm clear and something I have not tried (If I understand you) is to bleed with the motor running... I've tried everything else so why not... I believe you might be on to something... I will update after I try... |

MOPAR BRAND - Brake Proportioning Valve (Part Number: 4865325AA) do a search bleeding brakes and there is one good topic about bleeding each caliper with a special tool. Take a step back and restart. you will get it. robin This message has been edited by robin on 04-24-2017 at 10:45 AM |

Make sure your front calipers are not reversed. If they are, the brakes will not hold pressure. The bleeder should be above the brake line. Trust me, I speak from experience. |

HUGE SHOUT OUT AND PERSONAL THANK YOU TO DubinOH (Sorry I don't know your name)... His last post was nothing short of SPOT-ON!!! I friggin reversed the calipers and the bleeders are below the brake lines... I was not going to respond on the side of embarrassment but for future POA members doing the same it should be understood so the same mistake is not repeated. Well that said, 2 steps back but the issue is solved... Its not been my best week but a good lesson learned... Thanks A MILLION DubinOH and once again, may God Bless this site and its POA members... Glad someone had your answer. I have hear of this but have never experienced it myself. I have experienced the collapsed brake hose that acts like a check valve smoking new brake pads. |

To err is human, to forgive is against POA policy. lol Dublin is Steve, a superb individual. Ask him about selling a PT Cruiser sometime. lol This is a perfect example of the value of the POA. The people. Someone always has the answer. |

Update... I can't sleep when the Kat is down and it was torture waiting on the chroming to be completed. Simply, there was NO WAY I was waiting till the weekend to reverse back the calipers so after getting home from work at around 8PM I got to work... By midnight it was done... All is better and works perfectly!!!! Strange that Chrysler did not make Calipers that work upside-down!!! Steve's response help to eliminate what would have been stress and worry beyond measure.... Now... Just need a NICE day in PA for a long ride.. I'll post a few pics soon... |

Is the brake bleeder screw on the top or bottom of the caliper? If its on the top then they are on the wrong side. |

The bleeder should be on top because air rises. |
