Ethanol is used as an anti-knock compound . Ethanol raises the octane rating of gasoline. What is replacing alcohol to make 93 octane ? Pilot sells 92 octane as premium at the same price as 93. None of my stuff likes 92 and that cat pee they sell for regular, my leaf blower don't even like that. Pour some in a cup throw in a match it goes out. |

All I can say about ethanol is it causes havoc in small engines. I know first hand, I have many,,, actually lost count. |

Landscape couldn't agree more regarding small engines and ethanol. You can locate ethanol free gasoline at https://www.pure-gas.org/ The other issue with small engines is the current oil formulation, API rating "SN". Most small engine need "SJ". That's why Briggs and Stratton started selling their own brand of oil. It has the additive package from "SJ". They get away selling it because it isn't likely to end up in modern cars. |

Tell me! I've got 13 motorcycles, all with multiple carburetors. We have an ethanol free station here that I've been using for 3 years now. It doesnt seem to make any difference. So now I wonder if its the ethanol that screwing stuff up or its just the gasoline thats just crap. I've tried about every make of gasoline stabilizer to no avail. Its the longevity that bothers me. About 90 days and everything starts growing carpet in it. I think I will start trying av-gas. |

Took my tow behind compressor out of hibernation tonight so we can start winterizing irrigation systems. Surprise,,, Surprise. The fuel destroyed the fuel filter. FYI, I used marine stable and the red one when I put it away last winter. It was a new fuel filter. Bob, no ethanol free in my area. |

We just completed a 6,350 mile trip in a 2017 Corvette Grand Sport. The car averaged 26.5 mpg for the entire trip, the least was 24.5 and the best was 30.5 mpg. We travelled from Florida to Nevada to Utah and back to Florida. During the trip we had few occasions to use non-ethanol gas, but each time the gas mileage improved by 3 to 4 mpg. It did not matter whether it was 87 octane or 90 octane non ethanol, it never pinged and the mileage was always better. The transmission is an 8 speed automatic and I am very impressed with it's performance. This car has an economy mode which lets the car operate on only 4 cylinders while cruising down the highway, believe it or not we did not see a mileage improvement over operating full time as a v8 in manual mode. Even though the response was instant from 4 cylinder to 8 cylinder mode in economy mode we much preferred to remain a full time v8 in manual mode. Non ethanol gas has been available in my community for some time and I have been using it in everything. This trip has convinced me to buy non ethanol whenever I can. |
