Here in Asheville, a holding company who owns the Sears building at the mall has petitioned the City to allow them to build a multi-story apartment/business building in the Sears parking lot. They also are talking about taking over the Sears automotive garage and half the Sears store building. It looks like Sears is probably leaving here or at least cut way back in size. |

Sue & I were talking yesterday as we drove past the closed Sears store at the local mall Sears was one of the original catalog stores, and was the GO TO for many households for years. I had mainly craftsman tools in my tool box, mom & dad had kenmore appliances and sweepers, bought out cloths, toys and bikes there. Sears lost there way and doubt they will survive the future shopping habits Craftsman tools suck and they will not honor their lifetime warranty on tools ( have many ratchets that need replaced or repaired) So much for buying quality from Sears Sue worked for K Mart for over 26 years and retired when they were pushing the older employees out. We pretty much stopped shopping there when they took away her 10% employee discount after a few years of retirement. But doesn't matter now since there are none open in out area anymore. Sam Walton wanted to put mom & pop business out as he would only put his stores in rural areas for less competition, his kids took over and bought all the foreign stuff and put them everywhere to put others out of business, now Amazon is trying to put the brick & mortar stores out including Walmart and it is working. I still like to touch and feel what I'm buying but it is getting so hard to find what you want without ordering online. |
